Join me as I take KLM’s 787-10 and see how this otherwise excellent and distinguished airline let itself down with its latest seat. Poor food and bad lounges make this an experience to avoid. I’ll still be using KLM in the future, but maybe not from SFO… hope you enjoy the video! Next up, a train video from Egypt, and some AMAZING and frankly weird experiences I had in the Far East and India!

  1. The Polderbaan runway landing is a funny one – last time I flew to AMS from LBA the taxi from this runway to the stand was longer than the actual in-air flying time from Leeds.

  2. Great video as always. As a resident of Amterdam having KLM as my home airline I'm sorry the experience was so disappointing.

One remark: the English translation of the Dutch word "Polder" is actually Polder, which is a diked area of reclaimed (from water) land. So the "Polderbaan" is the Polder Runway.

  3. I flew klm from Cardiff to the Middle East every 6 weeks from 2001 to 2015 and it was great, then one trip they expected me to sleep on the floor of the airport for 24 hrs due to weather delays as all hotels were full. I tried to sleep on the seats in McDonald’s but was kicked out, I was fuming, I later complained and received nothing as compensation. I told all my work colleagues and many stopped using them. Emirates were winners in the end 😃😃

  4. I got accustomed to alcohol free beer on a plane. Just goes down better especially on longhaul. Disappointed to see they don’t offer any alcohol free beers…

  5. Mountains are nice but we see them everyday. I'll take an ocean or lake ANY day of the week over them. It is pretty, but it gets old…….

  6. Oh yawn more first-world problems, moaning and kvetching about minor details . Oh god, this temp lounge is so terrible (looked half empty and perfectly acceptable) . And waitttt OMG !!! ,no coffee machine . just sit down with a beer man. And thanks for reminding us that SFO is in California…as opposed to San Francisco …where else ????

  7. THANKYOU. for once someone not afraid to call KLM out for the overpriced/Under offered, product they sell.
I use a regional cityhopper and now go economy as its not worth the price differential.
My longhaul tomorrow, ive elected to go via paris with air France!!

  8. Great review but darn I’m scheduled on KLM ORD AMS 787-10 next Week. I still love and am a loyal Platinum for Life card holder :). What is you’re favorite KLM aircraft these days? I sure miss the queen of the sky’s 747’s KLM retired.

  9. I have flown KLM from Caracas to Amsterdam, when they used to fly yo Venezuela and took a 747 on business from Amsterdam to Hong Kong, old Kai Tak, what and experience landing in Hong Kong different story. KLM has always been a sort of no frills airline, they have always lack delivery, they will take you but not expect much.

  10. Oh my Gosh, KLM became so mediocre, just like Greyhound Bus. Broken seats on Dreamliner have become the new norm (manufactured at South Carolina).

  11. The worst food that I have ever had in the air was in Air France Economy flying out of Dakar. I think that the main dish was supposed to be meat, but it was disturbingly chewy. The AF food out of Paris and Toronto was much better. It really can depend on the local catering.

At least KLM didn't give you traditional Dutch food. Stamppot is truly foul, especially the variant with carrots and beans. I refer to it as Dutch Mush.

  12. Sad to this wasn't a great flight. I usually hear good things about KLM. Sad also that the 787-10 under performed. But that was a choice by the airline to install a bad seat and not the plane itself. Also I think catering from SFO might be to blame (partially) for the bad food presentation and taste. Anyways, safe flying on your next trip, mate!

  13. I left my chocolate on the plane. Funnily enough, I left my wallet on one too, but thanks to cabin crew, it was waiting for me on my connecting flight through DBX. Great video.

  14. A year ago we flew KLM from LAX to NCL with the same equipment, but not in business.
Everything was great, especially the cabin crew.
I agree about the “ bus station” feeling for the short haul but it just gets into the bad visuals for when you get to NCL 😩, those cramped hallways downstairs… horrible and depressing.

  15. Popcorn waiting for the comments in the response to the clip of the Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland compared to what I guess you wanted to be the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle 😂. Great to see Teesside get a mention

Edit: I saw that! clearly the intentional mistake
