Will you get off the ship and explore the new port development in Nassau after it opens this month?
Now they need to clean up the obnoxious souvenir sellers. It’s bad when you feel like they’re following you around the port to make that sale, and swim like a bunch of sharks in your direction when they see you coming!
Happy Friday Doug
Thanks for the updates
Enjoy your weekend 👍
Nice photo
Nassau will still be a day on the ship. It's a massive tourist trap of t-shirt stores.
Good morning….happy weekend 🚢
Good morning from Bardstown KY. ☕️
Marella is part of TUI who sell package holidays. Their own hotels are often keenly priced to support their own airline. They only sell flight and cruise packages. They wouldn't want people booking a cruise package but not using the flights. The ships are very UK focused and Im not sure many Americans would enjoy their cheap and cheerful UK style experience.
Not that it’s related to whatever Marella does, but I wish Royal would keep and maintain all the “Vision” class ships. We were even going to lose Grandeur before Covid. Crew I’ve talked to love the smaller ships and don’t want to work on the big ones.
What British person goes, “Well, gee, I really want to go on a Cruise to America, but I hate Americans. Hey let’s pick this ship?” Granted plenty of people go to France…. 🙂
I'm trying to understand a business model that says "let's exclude and totally alienate the largest single cruise market in the world"…
Mornin' Doug!! Ok, Nassau. I'll give it a shot next time time I'm there. Don't expect me to go out into the city again until it gets the same kind of "love", though.
I kind of question the legality of excluding US citizens from a cruise line sailing out of the US, but I guess until someone cares enough to challenge it in court, it is what it is.
Have a great weekend!!
That's good to hear that the Norweigan cruise is returning to Japan. The brand-new Nassau Cruise port has a grand opening date in May. People woll always go on cruises for people to have fun. There is no ship should be ported in the States don't allow Americans to sail and that's bad.
I guess the Brits are still a little jealous of us since the whole Revolutionary war / American independence thing ya know?
Interesting about NCL. I would think they’d put either Jade Or Joy, as they were decorated for the Asian market. 🤔🤔
Thanks Doug for news. Wonderful news on Bahamas looks great. Have a blessed weekend.
Maybe they shouldn’t base in a U.S. port they don’t want us we shouldn’t accommodate them.
The Marella thing doesn't even sound legal.
The ship would have to be sinking before I would get off it in Nassau.
Ok why is Marella docking here in the US when American's can't board it! That's racist clearly we haven't learned from our mistakes have we? Ugh dumb people!
Happy Friday Doug. Yay we made it 🎉🎉🎉 Have a great weekend
I guess they feel they will have enough passengers every week to cruise out of Port Canaveral. There ships are older and refurbished vessels. I would almost guarantee that someone will file a lawsuit based on discrimination based in nationality under U.S. law
Well, I'm surprised that DeSantis hasn't stepped in but good luck on the anti american cruiseline. They have budlighted themselves in the cruiseworld alienating the biggest market of cruisers.
Anyone want to start a pool on how long it will take before they try to rebrand from this failed strategy?
I have been watching PTZtv Nassau web cam watching the built this new tourist are, it is absolutely fantastic. Will have to schedule a Cruise "darn" to visit it.
The British ship will soon be begging for guests if they don't fill it up.
If they don’t want Americans on their ship then take your crap somewhere that you want the people!!! We don’t need any business or people that come here to use our ports etc yet think they are above us. Go back where you came from.
So why port Marella here if we can't cruise on her? Are there that many Brits in Florida?!
Very short sighted of Marella to not allow citizens of the country where they are sailing from. That is a cruise line I will never be interested in cruising with. So how soon before Marella changes their tune when people from other countries just can't justify a plane flight just to cruise with them ? They will quickly have many open cabins when the newest wears off and I hope more Americans feel like I do. If we aren't good for them now I don't give a crap what they offer us I will never cruise with them.
Hey Brits! Get out of our waters!!
For clarification, will Marella allow you on with a passport (versus a birth certificate)? Or not at all? Thanks 🙂
If U.S. citizens can't cruise on it, who do they expect to board? It might have a lot of sailings with few passengers onboard.
That's a bunch of BS, Marella Discovery. How about we boycott everything British. This just goes to prove it's all about money. What is the US thinking allowing a cruise ship to sail from a US port and not allow US passengers. Only thing I can think of is money. That is just plain discrimination so I say F**k the British. If I were a native of Florida in the Port Canaveral area I would find every way I could to mess with their cruise sailings. I mean let's face it, Royalty, Queen, Prince Coronation, etc., What a bunch of D-Bags.
If US residents can't sail on it get the hell out of our country.
WTF! I had to back that up and rehear that. I am highly offended. Do we need to dump more tea? We kicked them out before, I guess they forgot. And WHY would Port Canaveral allow such a thing?
So happy to see Japan opening up, if you haven’t cruise the Land of the Rising Sun, get out and just do it.
An amazing experience
Also why would a cruise company not allow everyone to sail?
Seems a odd!
Good job Doug 👍🇦🇺🚢
Hopefully the $$ from port fees & passengers going to restaurants at port Canaveral..as well as disney & NASA makes up for the slap in the face to all US citizens..
Im Sure there will b picketing at the pier.
👍🏻☕️ Friday, finally….
Wow lot of friday news! Thanks Doug
The average American cruiser won't like the Marella Discovery because it really is All Inclusive with no extra costs unless you go Premium AI and the Casino is Very Very Small
first what are tui doing? it make no sense to ban any one of your ships. second tui is a German compony not British. happy cruising 🙂
Happy Friday doing! Have awesome weekend 🎉
Thanks so much for news update I appreciate you so much ❤
OMG! Japan that is awesome Norwegian cruise line and how exciting ❤
CRUISE ALERT !!!! Eurodam!!! Alaska May 5-13 ran out of french fries at the Dive In mid cruise!!!! Traumatizing many passengers 😅
I agree, no US citizens allowed is egregious. Double their port fees.
