In the 3 times we’ve visited Japan, The Alpine Route was our favourite thing we have done and one of the best places to travel in Japan! We stayed overnight in Murodo which made the trip as we got to see the sunset and rise. We went during October/November (The Alpine Route is closed during winter).

The JR Pass does not include the transportation to cover the alpine route and tickets must be purchased seperately at the major train stations. Make sure to buy the ticket in advance as you get a slight discount. The tickets cost about $100. Our accommodation cost ~$300 for a night but prices may vary a lot depending on availability and season!

If you are planning to go do the Alpine Route yourself and have any questions feel free to ask in the comment section and we will get back to you 🙂

Bring snacks if you can as there are no convenience stores 🙂
