Just asking for clarification, where was in the source article under The Perpetual Foreigner that referenced AAPI not being "real" American because they just arrived here post 1965 in large numbers, because I couldn't find it referenced in the source article and it's obvious Asians have been noticeably present in the US much earlier, i.e. Filipino in the early 1900s post American-Filipino War and Chinese even further back in the 1800s. Regardless, I can see why Asians in general are considered perpetual foreigners, despite being part of American history in various aspects.

Also in regards to the anecdotal example of a lot of Filipino friends feeling the perpetual foreigner pressure, would the relationship between the Philippines and the United States have some reason for that, given that the US had a mission of "Civilizing and Christianizing" the Philippines post Filipino-American War, which would mean American culture/norms/values be a part of Filipino culture, hence the familiarity and less pressure?
