Maya bay is OPEN! After 3.5 years of closure due to over tourism and severe damage to the ecosystem! Ive been lucky enough to step foot on this famous and iconic beach.
Today I discuss if Maya Bay one of the most beautiful islands in the world!! and one that is talked about and shared for decades! is worth the hype! i give you my honest review of this Phi phi island and show you the amazing 360° views! maya bay is actually an archipelago of 6 islands Phi Phi don and Phi Phi Leh If you haven’t been here yet, this is something you cannot miss out on, the iconic long tail boats, limestone rock faces and of course that turquoise water! i was in awe of this magical paradise! BUT there are some drawbacks!
Maya bay got its fame from featuring in the 1999 movie “The Beach” Starring Leonardo DiCaprio. For many years boats filled with eager tourists used to visit this beach – around 5000 people per day!
The beach closed due to severe damage to the environment and now the beach is finally open with some conditions:
