  1. I am from the United States, and I Love Tipping People, it’s called Class, There is so many selfish people in our World 🌎, what’s 20 or 30 dollars gonna hurt anyone, Everyone needs to be more Generous and Loving,

  2. I am from the UK we always pay our tips upfront. We will also tip extra for service too. I was just on Carnival Glory and there was a large line at the reception desk to remove grats a lot of the people in line were US citizens.

  3. I always pay gratuities and pay extra as well, but I do hate the whole system. I wish the cruise companies would just pay the crew good salaries and include that in the price of the cruise.

  4. I have gone to places where tips are expected but I had no idea how much to tip because the cost of living was much lower than the US. I would much rather pay gratuities as part of my package up front to ensure people were taken care of and not have to worry about it later on. This also helps me keep track of the total cost and prevents extra trips to the atm if I’m somewhere that doesn’t use credit cards regularly and almost exclusively uses cash.

  5. It’s my opinion that travelers should be responsible to abide by the customs of whatever area you are traveling in. If you are European and cruising in and around the US region…. You tip. Period. And vice versa.

  6. I pre-pay, plus when I come on board i tip my cabin attendant, bartender, and my Starbucks, deck waiter that's who I interact with.

  7. I'm like you, I pay the automatic gratuity then bring money for my favorite bartender, server and anyone else that goes above and beyond. I cruise a lot and have enjoyed trips on 5 different cruise lines. I have one excellent bartender on NCL that always gets $100 when I walk on the ship. He never knows when I'm coming but he has taken ownership of his bar and made it the most enjoyable place to drink bar known for any ship I've sailed and I'm "elite" on cruise line. The automatic tips do supplement crew salaries, don't let anyone tell you they don't but on the other hand those tips go to all the crew, not just servers. I view it as compensation for the machine room guys, the dishwashers, the guys cleaning the glass all around the atrium, the cooks in the kitchens. To me it's only fair. If a person can't afford to pay the auto gratuity at the very minimum, they should just stay home. Sorry for the "life's story"

  8. I'm from the U.S., but I would much prefer the cruise lines pay staff a fair wage–include the value of the gratuities in the cruise fare and eliminate this issue. Then I can choose to tip specific people who have provided excellent service, to recognize them for going above and beyond.

  9. The pressure is taken off when you get the all in package. The Plus price with Princess. If the staff go the extra mile, then we tip extra. They always go the extra mile in our opinion. The option of removing tips should not be allowed due to all the staff all over the ship working behind the scenes to make your vacation special. If you come from a no tip culture, then don't tip extra. No judgement on anyone. It is a personal choice. We are Canadian

  10. Where it stop do you Tip Plumber for job well done maybe Builder or Postman or on and on .I never got a Tip in my Job Wait Pay Well

  11. Being British I hate tipping, I see a price and that's what I should pay. On my first cruise I found it very awkward and made me very uncomfortable to have to tip, I have a budget for my holiday and all my own spending money budget ended up going on tipping. I love that Celebrity have an all inclusive rate so I can budget and relax and not have an internal struggle about is this a situation where I should tip and how much should it be every single time I deal with a crew member. Build the tips which you have to pay into the cruise price, why not the customer has to pay it so put it right at the start.

  12. We cruise a lot, however I alway look at the gratuity as a complete package. I have only traveled on Carnival, I might have to try a ship that includes everything.

  13. I started cruising in 1989 with my family when I was a teenager. At that time, and a good while longer, tips were always in cash at the end of the cruise. My parents are generous tippers, but I am sure many people left much less than recommended, and some spent all their money and didn't tip at all! I think it is much better now, either included in a package, pre-paid, or on your account. I have thought about removing them to pay cash, but didn't. I have heard that there is a "no tip" list for people who remove them from the account, and if you are a frequent cruiser, the staff know who you are. The first cruise I was on that had tips pre-paid was on NCL in 2001. The service was horrible!! I contribute that partly due to the staff no longer working for individual tips and knew they would get tips automatically. Eventually it became the norm and staff apparently realized that they still needed to provide good service in order to keep their jobs. I haven't had the issue with overall bad service since. But I also have not been back on NCL or Carnival since (and don't plan on going on them again).

  14. Greetings from Australia!! Here in the land down under, tipping isn't a normal thing. Yet its not actively discouraged either. Gratuities are a part of our cruise fare but the nice people like to tip for good service anyway. Our cabin stewards had beautiful beaming smiles when we tipped them and seeing their joy makes it so worthwhile.

  15. I have stopped visiting the US because the tipping has got out of hand. My main issue however, is that the staff in the hospitality industry don't get paid a decent wage. It's illegal in most other developed countries not to pay people properly. To me it's immoral and I've decided that I'm not going to support it any more. When tipping is 18, 20, 25 % thats like a supertax. Tipping is meant to be a gesture of thanks to the staff.
The all inclusive rates with Celebrity are fair and everybody gets a share of the gratuities.

  16. If I get good service, I will tip. In the US I have noticed the people who LOVE their job do better service, but for travel, most it’s a better job then in their home country, so they will give better service anyway.

  17. We always have the tips included. I''ve never heard anyone of the staff to complain about. We also always tip extra to our butler, bartender, room stewart, etc and it's not to bribe them as some may think, but rather an extra thank you for all they do, the smiles they give to us (returned of course) and the wonderful stories they tell of "their" lives, and their interest in ours as well. We know they definitely appreciate it!.

  18. Hi there, I am an Australian and as a country we don't "tip" unless we want to… our country has a minimum living wage and no one relys on tipping to survive .. it is the employers responsibility to pay for their staff… we cruise we Princess cruises and any cruise that leaves from Australia the Australian fare does NOT include tipping….we are free to tip whomever we like…and we do so for what we consider great service…what tipping should be…. I am disgusted that staff have to beg for a decent wage in America…. and that these companies use this system to pay their staff…

  19. I have a question. I recently completed my first cruise (I'm hooked) and wanted to tip my room steward a little extra but I had no idea of the amount to leave. He did get my robe for me that should have been in the cabin but wasn't but beyond that, he was just very nice and efficient. He always had a smile for me which I suppose I appreciated more as I was traveling alone. What would you suggest? It was a 7 night Alaska cruise.

  20. Gratuities are expected but my wife and I do not drink or use the bar services and feel we should not have our monies distributed to them. We ALWAYS tip our room attendant and dining staff EXTRA at the end of the cruise, we are not cheap people. We decided to have our gratuities removed on our future cruises and tip accordingly. We do cruise monthly and love it!

  21. Hi guys, I was wondering if you knew of a back-to-back transatlantic Cruise or I could stay on board and simply Cruise back to the original port love to cruise hate to fly

  22. I’m all for including tips in the cost of the cruise. Then if there is service above and beyond will tip extra. I’m doing NCL Prima 7/16 and was happy to prepay the tips.

  23. I am a frequent cruiser. I pre pay my gratuities when booking. When I meet my cabin steward and dining room waiter on day one he/she gets a portion of what I set aside for additional tips. From that point on, my wife and I usually get priority everything. Each day an additional tip is given until the end of the cruise or until my priority service stops. Why would I wait until the end of the cruise to tip, it’s over!!! . I want to be recognized as someone to give good service to, on day one.

  24. We always give extra to our room steward and our serversI, main dining. If we get a drink from the coffee bar or alcohol bat, we tip there also. ,

  25. I prefer prepaid gratuities. I also enjoy handing something extra to crew members who give me extra special service — the bartender who spent time showing me how to mix a cocktail I particularly liked and introduced me to products from a distillery I had never heard of; a random room steward who called to get my information then walked me to the correct area after realizing I was totally lost and didn’t know my room number (embarkation day); the main dining room hostess who took pains to seat us in the same area every night so we could have our favorite server; the adorable young lady on her first ever sailing as crew who cheerfully put up with our confusing request to provide everyone in our group access to each other’s cabins (large family); and ALWAYS our cabin steward and room service deliverers.

  26. I live in the U.S. but this story has me wondering if European owned cruise lines that only sail in Europe do not collect tips for their employees. Are the European cruise line employees paid a higher wage?

  27. We have always given the gratuity’s recommended and then if we found a crew member going ‘over and beyond’ what is expected we give them a more. I have been told by some they have to report it and by others they don’t. They definitely deserve more in our option. Thanks for the vlog, great topic!

  28. We always pay our gratuities upfront and we also tip extra especially to our room stewardwork, & some of the other staff that I’ve served us and I always believe that you should at least pay your gratuities, but do you want to tip extra that’s up to you, but we always do that

  29. Hello Jared and Jordan, how are you. I like this new concept that Celebrity is doing. Where everything is in one total price that you are going to get . Is this something that other cruise lines will st0art doing. I just finished a cruise to Bermuda . Even though I paid upfront for daily, drink package , specialty dinning . With what I pay , I still will give various staff tips throughout the ship. I have been on many cruises , actually I just finished a cruise to Bermuda. I have never had a bad experience on anyone of them. I am not saying this the case foe everyone.

  30. Some ppl are so selfish & ignorant..they were just cheap..i hate when ppl brag about removal of tips! Its not just foreigners either.. we give extra!

  31. My first cruise last year and all was included, made sense to me. I also made thank you cards for my cabin attendant and other staff and left them with additional thank you $. It felt so luxurious to me to be on a cruise and seeing how hard the staff all work… not an issue!

  32. I've only had one cruise that I removed my gratuities…… Eight day cruise and I couldn't get a bucket of ice in my cabin for nothing….. I kept going across the hall to the ice machine and getting my own ice…. Very disappointed…… I tipped my restaurant staff in person with cash…… When people remove the gratuities they have a reason and this is a no judgment area…..

  33. Most cruise line employees are from other countries, not the US. The wages on cruise ships are minimal at best. If you think all the people it takes to serve you on the cruise ship prepaid gratuity it's not that much. So not only do I pay my prepaid gratuity but absolutely when I get above and beyond service I tip extra

  34. I am from England and I am shocked at the amounts people in the USA are paying in tips. I have never removed my service charges on a cruise but I do know that some British people do. I usually give a bit extra to the room steward at the end of the voyage. Now that daily service has risen in price and actual service has decreased to once a day I will no longer be tipping extra. It is time for cruiselines and service industries to pay the staff a proper wage and stop asking the staff to accept a low wage and hope guests make the wage up. I really feel awful when I hand over a tip. It is embarassing and makes me feel horrible even thinking about it.
