thanks for giving me new questions ๐
Can't you see same kind of beaches and mountains in Hawaii?
USA the best ๐
Great video. It is always easier for an American to say and doing because of the money in the bank. Most from Philippines wants to go to America to make money and many will only come back to Philippines just for a visit. Philippines is good for retirement for some. The problem is the danger on the road, the burning, the excess noise from chickens, roasters, dogs, burning garbage and rice field. In the city over crowded. America is a paradise. But wait because of the communist taking over like Biden usa and Trudeau canada Philippines is starting to look way better. What make the strength of Philippines is the population same ethnicity and few strangers. Example in canada immigration and refugees are taking the country and changing everything there. Flooding the country and you want see that in Philippines ๐ . The people are very nice very friendly to strangers in Philippines. If a person come with money and get a big land that should be good to get your little paradise if not you will be living with the noise most of the time. My filipina said to me better go with money because it would be a harsh place to live. She was right on that money is everything to make yourself a nice home.
I love philippines.. i like swimming always in the beach๐
I liked your term "Voting with my feet". Nice analogy. Salamat po. Amping always
We love u here in philippines doc๐ฅฐ
I think i lost my previous comment. But i want you to know that i am happy to hear that you would choose the Philippines over US. Tho Luckily you don't have to do that coz u can always go back & forth between PI & USA. I wish you have a really good tome/ fun in the Philippines..i have been following you for about a year now. I wish you will have more subscriber in PH and US. โบ๐๐
Thank you Dr. Laway, for the appreciation of our country, The Philippines and the people…Wishing you good health and long life…God Bless Sir…
Dr you are a world traveler can't see you living in usa
Philippines also get's noisy very early too.
Quality of life. Or value of your money. If your super healthy come here to the ph. If you have medical conditions stay in usa. You will die in ph!! Healthcare is rough and expensive. No social nets say your having a stroke and you get to the hospital. If you donโt have someone to run to the atm real quick to. Put retainer on ur bill. You prolly die in there waiting room. Itโs night and day difference here. Please l, canโt tell you how many dead expats here do to poor health screening and diet. They put sugar in everything. They fry everything depending on the island seafood is not cheap unless salted fried fish. This place is great for a 30-60 year old but once your health goes down hill go back to your home country. Also if your plan is well if I get sick I just fly to Guam. Serious how dumb are you if your having a stroke or coughin up blood you think you have time to book a ticket and get on that plane? If that is your plan need to rethink that. I am in my mid 40โs got a major cough that turned into I could barely breath luckily I went into w private hospital here had yo hand over about 500 usd after there initial assecessment that I had a bad case of pneumonia. I was hospitalized and put on antibiotics bed ridden no way I had the strength or energy to get on a plan to fly to Guam. Well luckily I lived but wasnโt allowed to leave until I paid them 2500 usd. That on top of the 500. My pacific cross plan did cover about 50k pesos. Please donโt listen to most of these bloggers That peddle this place as milk and honey for poor pensioner that will be in paradise for under 1k a month. That total bs. Donโt make your medical plan I fly home or go to Guam. If you make less then 1200 a year just know your diet and health and medical care will be little to none and your cutting years off your life here. As the cheap living comes with a cost. You could argue same thing of USA but there when your sick a hospital is required by law to keep you alive no matter the cost. You can choose to eat healthier there here you have no choice. Donโt let me get started on the cross contamination at food venues. I have 0 allergies so to me I care less but many old people have them. I worked in a health department back in my younger years and the things I seen here would have a health inspector instantly shutting it down. But hey why things are cheap here. You pay for what you get always remember that. Thatโs the Philippines in a nutshell.
The best Philippines you can stay because quite cheeper compare to America ๐บ๐ธ
We share politics, or rather, the desire to not even discuss politics because both the left and right have gone so extreme that rational discussion with people isn't possible. When strangers ask me how I feel about a topic, I just tell them I don't follow politics (clearly a lie). I'm up for discussion, not debate, and that is simply impossible in the polarized US. Counting the days, the business should be handed over to a new team soon, so I'm (hopefully) about 3 months from spending a few months in Davao, then we will see from there.
The biggest point is food. Here in North America most of our foods are processed. Barely have anything fresh. Fruits and vegetables have to travel before it reaches our table. Compares to the Asian countries where most of their foods are freshly harvested all year round. Second, people here in North America don't want to see the how their foods are being prepped. Example, they don't want to see a fish being cleaned, a pig being butchered, cut and cleaned etc etc etc. They just want something clean all pre prepared and/or sanitized. ๐ the taste is not the same because of all preservatives ๐
Thank you for enjoying your stay in the Philippines.
I know my retirement income will stretch further in the Philippines currently I enjoy living my retirement here in the US by traveling on my travel trailer visiting every states and national parks. When I have completed all of this, I will someday settle in the Philippines too. But for now I'm enjoying what I do and love watching your videos.
I totally agree with your points. Filipinos love life and they embrace it rich and poor alike. Noise and drivers are what I do not like in the Phil. too. But we are the friendliest and most easy-going people on the planet. Cost of living if you have dollar income will be very comfortable. Politics and corruption are bad but if you do not participate in it, you are okay. However they affect the poor Filipinos terribly. Have you been to Australia? It is beautiful, peaceful, clean. Aussies are friendly generally but there is racism too. Cost of living will be expensive because the economy is much smaller than the US and the dollar value exchange with USD is not much different. But I agree Europe is a much better alternative to the US because you can move from country to country by land and experience different cultures and cuisines.
I concur, Sir.
Totally agree with you about the attitude of the Filipino people they are sweet wonderful people and live life robustly everyday
Your answers were apreciated but leaves me with a question. Can a US expat still vote in the USA absentee? And no, I am not exhorting you to "pick a side" and vote I was curious, and lazy, as I could just ask my local election people.
Hi doc , I'm sitting in Davao airport ,running down the clock before boarding to Manila and back to the UK , I can't comment on the states but agree with your comments on the Philippines, and yes I had a grilled squid at Roxas last week,I'll be back in September
Amen to that, I agree 100 percent. It is my gรฒal to live in Naga Cebu, my wifes home town. I'll be there permanently in 5 more years.
I suggest go back to America.
Yeah in so many ways the US is circling the drain. The middle and working classes are slowly getting squeezed into serfdom. I am probably financially secure enough to remain in the US but overall qol is so much better abroad, particularly SE Asia. I just need to find my spot in the Phils before I pull the trigger.
