  1. Chow Yon Fat, Donnie Yen, Zhang Ziyi (spelling). i know that's mostly Crouching Tiger peeps but still. We know names!

  2. Singer/songwriter, Eric Nam will star in the movie โ€œTransplantโ€. He is K American born and raised in ATL

  3. Come on guys you knew that coming in the Americans are not the brightest and sharpest tool in the shed. Many times most of the Americans repeately fail general knowledge test.

  4. 64% is pretty good, imo.
Ke Huy Quan is an American celebrity but who can remember his name when it is difficult to pronounce. That's one of the challenges of being Asian American with a homeland name.
Jeremy Lin can be easily recognizable if he was able to maintain his top notch performance into his mid 30s.
We just need consistency. In cinema, like Jackie Chan (not American), it's his unique performance that people recognize and want more of. His name is also easily notable like a brand of a product.
I'm enjoying the reboot of Quantum Leap and hope to see more of the lead actor in future movies. It's a shame that he appeared in Top Gun: Mavorick for only a few scenes.

  5. Bruce Lee was transcendent and Jackie Chan created his own genre of action/comedy. Itโ€™s not fair to compare other Asian entertainers to them

  6. Should've asked me. Outside the G.O.A.T. which is Bruce Lee, my first crush was when I saw Dustin Nguyen from the 21 Jump Street tv show in the late 80's. Then there's: Ken Watanabe, Jackie Chan, Big Bolo, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Andy Lau, Stephen Chow, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, Lucy Lui, Anita Mui (may she rest in peace), etc.
    Just to name a few…๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Kam Fong- Chin Ho Hawaii 5 O, Keye luke Kung Fu , Jack Soon Barney Miller , Pat Morita – Mr Miyagi, Victor Sen Yung – Bonanza,

  8. I think the phenomenon of recognizing a face but not the name makes sense. Usually people will need to be a vehement fan of a celebrity to be incentivized to look them up and if most Asian actors are only occupying minor supporting roles, then they may be more apathetic compared to learning about the name of a protagonist that they may find physically attractive.

  9. Growing up watching action movies was my thing. So when an action movies kept popping up (keep in mind Iโ€™m like 26) for me was Sammo Hung, Jet Li, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan. Not to mention watching power rangers caught the attention of Thuy Trang & Michael Chaturantabut.๐Ÿ˜…
But now itโ€™s like pending on Genre and who you find attractive thereโ€™s a ton of celebrities that you wonโ€™t know or care for. Btw is Ricegum even relevant anymore? I havenโ€™t heard his name in like 5 years๐Ÿ˜‚

  10. 44% if Americans can't name a single famous Asian.
45% of Americans don't know the number of planets in the solar system.
46% of Americans don't know how many continents there are on Earth.
47% of Americans don't know the countries bordering the USA.
BUT 100% of Americans know the names of all the Kardashians. LoL!

  13. I find it funny that most Asian-Americans that watch sports watch football and basketball, but the North American sports with the most Asian people are hockey and baseball.

  14. Your mention of degenerate content is one of the reasons why. Asian people in general are against that kind of garbage, but Hollywood loves it.

  15. I'm Chinese Canadian, and at one of my previous job, me being the only Asian and visible minority working there, I had a realistic perspective of how they see Asian in cinema. I said there's this new movie (Crazy Rich Asians) coming out. The response was, is it martial arts, I said no, it's a comedy, and the response is they're not interested. If it's drama or comedy, they just can't wrap their head around this. Frankly, Everything Everywhere All At Once would haven't gotten as far as it did, if there weren't martial arts, imo.

  16. Wait…so you're saying 66% possibly recognize Asians as human? Haha…not gonna lie. I thought it'd be 99.9% that wouldn't be able to. Look…they don't give two shits, they won't give shits and it'll only change longggggg after we're gone off the face of the earth (aka about 300-400 years in the future when Asian American kid' parents will have almost zero connection to the motherland). All this other talk is just filler or nonsense until then. So pin this comment and come back in 300-400 years! See ya then! ๐Ÿ˜€

  17. I had to heavily research this because AAPI month was always not really celebrated to it's full potential where I'm at. When I was growing up in the 80s and 90s the famous Asian Americans I knew were Ernie Reyes Jr., Ke Huy Quan, Dante Basco, and Pat Morita. I did idolize legends who were not American but did have a heavy impact in America such as Lea Salonga and Bruce Lee. Current famous Asian Americans are Sung Kang and Awkwafina. There are other famous Asians but many are from Canada. Other famous people who are not known to be Asian American but are include Olivia Rodrigo, Bruno Mars, Hailee Steinfeld, Vanessa Hudgens, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

  18. From comics there is Jim Lee and Whilce Portacio. From sports there is Michelle Kwan, Michael Chang, and Kristi Yamaguchi. These are who I know are Asian American during my childhood from the 80s and 90s. I had to look hard for any representaion in media back then. But of course I adapted to everything and love dance and hip hop culture. Also the dance crew JABBAWOCKEEZ have Asian American members.

  19. Surprised people couldn't name at least one SEA performer, you'd think Dante Basco would be a freebie with his roles in Hook and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Also Manny Jacinto, but let's be honest, how many people who watched The Good Place saw Filipino right off the bat; knowing how people are, they'd be like Hank Hill, "are ya Chinese or Japanese?" And that's just Filipino, you got other ones like Tony Jaa, Kelly Marie Tran, Jeeja Yanin, Reggie Lee, and Hong Chau. That's only a few off the top of my head, I'm sure there's a lot of others that people aren't aware are SEA (or half), like Bruno Mars, Lou Diamond Philips, Vanessa Hudgens, and surprisingly Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
