Evenos is an atypical town made up of three very different hamlets, La Nebra – the old Evenos and its medieval castle, the hamlet of Broussan and the hamlet of Sainte-Anne d’Evenos which developed more recently on the RN8.
During a trip, the famous writer Georges SAND mentions, in his diary entitled “Voyage dit du Midi” written in 1861, the town of Evenos and its surroundings. It praises the Nebrosian landscapes and its medieval citadel built on top of the Piton. The Sainte-Anne sandstones have also been cited as “It is a double and triple stream of friable sandstone rocks, dissolving into fine white sand.”
Located to the west of the VAR department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur region, this town attracts many tourists who love old stones, nature strolls and the olfactory and gustatory pleasures that Provence has to offer.
He is a member of the Communauté d’Agglomération Sud-Sainte-Baume and the Regional Natural Park of Sainte-Baume.
