  2. This is capitalist propaganda. Yes the DDR was not perfect, but diverse artistic expression was allowed. I know because I lived in East Berlin. No one liked the Stasi situation but no one wanted to be annexed by capitalism either. The truth is much more nuanced. That is why it will never be heard. The hope was social liberalism and economic socialism. Now the hope is economic socialism and socialism liberalism. To find the balance between liberty and equality always.
