SUBSCRIBE: – Let’s go to the Greek island of CHIOS (ΧΙΟΣ) and let’s visit the 8 windmills (4 fully restored and 4 still in ruins) located 1 kilometer north from the main town and port of Chios. These beautiful windmills were built around the end of the 19th century when the main industry of the island was leather processing in tanneries in an area called Tampakika. We will see all 8 of the windmills including some of the tanneries (warehouses) that still exist in the surrounding area.

Chios is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, situated in the northern Aegean Sea. The island is separated from Turkey by the Chios Strait. Chios is notable for its exports of mastic gum and its nickname is “the Mastic Island”.
