A tour of Valletta, the beautiful and historic capital city (although it’s really a town of only 6,000 people) of the island nation of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Africa. You can watch my previous video of Malta here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNJlZSVjxfs

  1. Come to Philadelphia! At least for a stopover. Wondering if, in all these years of traveling, you've ever youtubed from Philly. :o)

  2. Malta was huge during WW2 and after the siege the island was awarded the George Cross for the bravery shown. Key supply island and Valetta harbour was the focal point of bombing to try and stop supplies from the ships doing the Med convoys. Underground tunnels saved many – tours must be great. Looks a great place to visit.

  3. enjoying seeing your travels… "more atmosphere", I get it, always good to see you eating reasonably well, but I've learned that sometimes the food courts can be the thing & maybe worth an assessment (I can add it to my map notes). thanks for sharing (all), enjoy, gracias

  4. How much stone quarrying, chiselling, transport, and setting up had been done to build just Valletta, not to mention other towns on the islands of Malta?

  5. Valletta is so incredible, thanks for taking me back!! I think it is the most beautiful city I have ever been to. I love how you ran into more "friends". haha just like me

  6. Love this place! So much to see and do. I think you would need 3 weeks at least to see all the attractions. So nice to see you greeted by a follower right there Gabriel. And I am shocked you didn't say a word about the guitar player who was playing a prelude from…one of your favorite albums and band and mine too by the way, I will give you a hint you mentioned the wall, massive indeed, and there were pink flo…wing flowers all over!! lol

  7. Just left Malta about 10 days ago enjoyed an amazing week there. We stayed in Floriana just outside the Valleta 10 minutes walk plus much cheaper. If u get a chance try the Local brew called Cisk pretty good stuff. Find it at a local convenience store.
There is this place in the Valleta called the drunken dumpling oh my it's good, very small really inexpensive with large portions. Folks oh Malta is well known saw 3 large cruise ships make port different days during the week off loading hundreds of tourist.

  8. I understand that the layout is intended to be 3 defenders abreast in every pathway, but it makes old cities cramped! Car parking should be solved somehow.

  9. A little bit of research and even a map would really come in handy. I mean you walked past a Renzo Piano masterpiece, the Parliament House and the ruins of the Royal Opera House and hardly turn the camera. Great video non the less, just could be better.

  10. 17:31– There's a reason why Maltese (or as they call it Malti) doesn't 'look like the other European languages'. It's largely based on Arabic from the time it was ruled by the Arabs from 870 AD to 1091AD and it has the distinction of being the only Semitic language that uses the Roman alphabet (adding a few unique letters). Of course, over the centuries Maltese has added Italian, French and English terminology to its vocabulary making it somewhat a hybrid spoken language! Regardless, Valletta and Malta are spectacular places and I appreciate you sharing your time there with us!

  11. Great work Gabriel! You've got to visit the West Coast countryside in Dingli apart from the Three Cities in the East of the Island. Enjoy your time in Malta! P.S – Easy on the Rabbit 😀

  12. You should also visit Mdina known as the Silent City, Città Vecchia or Città Notabile. It was Malta's Capital City during the Medivial times before Valletta. It is smaller but equally beautiful!

  13. We had our honeymoon in Malta and went back 5 times to enjoy Valletta and Gozo etc. Stunning little place with a rich history. The battery salute in Valletta is amazing.

  14. Gabriel, you walked right past "The Pub" in your video. That is where the famous British actor Oliver Reed died during a heavy night of drinking. He was in Malta filming "The Gladiator" in 1999
