Madrid, tourist city. Capital of Spain. Its population with the metropolitan area is 6,500,000 inhabitants, being the fourth in the European Union. It receives about 7 million tourists a year. Spain received 82 million tourists in 2019. It is the third country in the world that receives more tourists, after France and the United States.
Madrid offers countless lovely places to enjoy. The city center is La Puerta del Sol. From there you can find the main shopping streets and go for tapas (kind of snacks) in countless places in the Old Town. Places you shouldn’t miss seeing such as La Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market, Prado Museum, Royal Palace, El Retiro Park, Gran Via Street, Cibeles Square.
