Welcome back to the Surf Line! In part 3 of this series, we will continue to follow the route toward San Diego. This seciton covers the line through the southernmost portion of Orange County and into northern San Diego County. For this portion, the tracks follow the Pacific Ocean for miles as they finally meet the water in Dana Point. Once again, a variety of trains and train operations are covered, both passenger and freight.

  3. Why didnt Metrolink buy the rest of the line from oceanside to SD I times wonder, think of the passenger rail service it could have given.

SD to LA, SD to SB, he'll why not SD to SLO.

  4. Just love watching these videos. From the beautiful scenery to the great catches and great rail acton. Enjoyed watching another good production and have a very enjoyable rest of your Friday.(Steve)

  5. Sierra siding extension/double tracking south of San Juan Capistrano station to south of San Clemente Metrolink is way overdue, near term that will allow 2RT hourly through the area.
I'm sure it would have been pricey but double tracking trestle bridge and connecting to the 16mi of double track would get NCTD closer to full double tracking the entire route.
While the bypass inland which has been proposed for 20+ years will need to take shape fast.

  6. 10:35: You caught a sweet moment on the left. Looks like the guy was setting up a camera, then the couple posed with the girl jumping up in his arms, then he retrieves the camera. At least that is my suspicion… Looks like a great pic if so!
