About Vantastic: We are a happy couple who got rid of everything to travel the world. We make vlogs sharing our daily lives in a camper van, our ups and downs, and our adventures around Europe.

What camera equipment do you use?
We use GoPro10, Røde VideoMicro with a dead kitten, Ulanzi tripod mt-16, Ulanzi cage G9, Ulanzi vl49 light, DJ Mavic Pro drone and Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the vlogs. Our electrical power set-up in our camper van allows charging our camera and laptops to film and edit.

What is your van?
Our camper van is Fiat Ducato 2015, Adria Twin conversion panel van. We have done only minor upgrades and mods to our camper van, we pretty much love it as it is.

How do you afford your nomadic lifestyle?
We live on a true shoestring budget. We travel economically, we cook all our meals, we dont visit tourist traps, we enjoy being in the nature and hiking in the nature. We worked traditional office jobs for years and now we live on our savings and investments. We dont believe you need tons of money to to pursue your passion. However, we have learned that you do need to sacrifice comfort, consistency and safety, but that it is possible, very worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes us truly happy!

  1. Wow, much better to test the camping car in France, € 80 maximum for two years and a discount at most places. No test for anything in the sleeping area, just seat belts, no wheel alignment check that I know. They check weight but don't seem to do anything if it's over. 😕. my camping car should have failed because a seat belt could not adjust up and down at the front but he said have a look at it and passed it anyway. ya 😀(it's now fixed but I don't have to go back). I don't know if you pay road tax in Finland?, but we do not pay anything here in France. 🙂 🇫🇷

  2. Given that your van is 8yrs old (I believe), you should be doing servicing and brake pads yourself. You can do this. My gearbox broke in France. They wanted €4 to €6000 to fix it. A dealer would be €7000+.

I had the gearbox rebuilt in London for £2220 pounds. France is a rip off, and they quote prices to scare you off, because it's work they aren't interested in. They like low hanging fruit.

  3. Really looking forward to seeing your continuing progress on your plot/homebase. Your Spanish and European adventures were great to watch, but more interested to see now what you do with your land hopefully see a new Summer Cottage go up!

Also really hoping to see a reunion of Vantastic and Angry Camper – you guys should invite Simaa to your plot! (And AJ is Road Tripping too)

  4. What have you done? If you got the car licensed in another EU country like Spain, that doesn't care so much about MOT would that make a difference? Are we ever free?
