Thank you for this video, Bret! My time in Chiang Mai i always noticed and commented on how wifi was available and strong everywhere. The culture was young and hip. There was a tech vibe mixed with the old city culture. i really liked Chiang Mai and yes i think its a digital nomad paradise haha.
Were you not in Chiang Mai in May Brett? It was mid 40s every day. Not exactly cool š
Hi ā„ļøš§āš¤I'm Iranian girl šøš¹village life is relaxing and nice š thanks for your support š¹
Cheers Brett, great video again š
My first visit will be Bangkok where my friend currently lives, more visits through next year, hopefully moving there in 2025, then we will move to Chiang Mai some time in that year, which is where she originally came from š
Cheers again š
Great video, Brett. I don't trust myself at all on a moped, especially in Thailand. Is it possible to live in Chiang Mai without a moped or a car? How much would I need to budget for a Bolt taxi or something similar if I wanted to get one into the city centre 4-5 times a week?
Thank you Brett for sharing all this valuable informationā¤
Thailand in my experience is the nicest place in the world by any measure.
Great video Brett, thanks for the information and encouragement! Do you ever take trips to the southern islands? If so which one is your favorite so far? Hoping to visit either this winter or early next summer! I'd like to grow my channel a bit larger 1st, but the revenue isn't quite there yet to make me comfortable staying long-term. It's growing though, so some day soon! I'm excited to visit a few places to feel out if Thailand is my vibe. Based on your videos, I'm liking what I'm seeing. Cheers buddy!
buddahist religion believes strongly in KARMA that's why little theft, murder, etc; however there will some bad apples and desperate people
Brilliant video; too good. Keep it a secret. š Chiang Mai is the best! Iām due to return for my birthday in August and my enlarged prostrate update MRI; TMI, 555. Hope to bump into you again⦠šš¼
Brilliant positive video. Really enjoyed that thanks Bret.
@brett_dev – only concern I have is – getting great insurance that is 100% accepted with amazing coverage when I get old.
Are there plans in Thailand for expats that you can have 100% confidence in as you age???
how about air pollution ? there's a season during the burning corn harvest left over that makes it really bad
I agree with everything you said. However, most of the time when I was there for nine weeks in March and April this year Chiang Mai had the worst air quality in the world.
Two million people people in northern Thailand were hospitalised with breathing problems.
There is a high rate of various cancers from the toxins in the air during burning season.
Youāre absolutely spot-on about the healthcare Brett I was in Pattaya in March and I had a tooth pulled out for the first time in my life it cost 500 baht and took about 10 minutes And I had literally just walked into the dentist a couple of hours earlier in the UK you wouldāve paid a couple of hundred pounds and waited a couple of weeks And the rest of the NHS in the UK is just bloody shocking youāre really not missing anything by living in Chang Mai
Very interesting to hear your perspective on these things!
Even in the hot days I can still walk around in C.M. And all night. And usually cools at night. I couldn't walk much in BKK. And hot at night. Maybe better in certain months. But can't get use to it. And very cheap to fly around Thailand. Use C.M. as a home base. I have been there 3 times. But still see new things on the vds.
I miss Chiangmai, its peacefulness and calmness. But my wife and I will be there this year, we have similar attitudes to why we live in China, its overall cost of living is so much better, its a shame that China hasnāt developed a nomad visa, its unlikely they will in my opinion but I hope I am wrong!
You nailed it to a Complete T, Brett! As someone who has been going to Chiang Mai since 1988 and has had a flat there since 2004, I have to FULLY agree with all you say about this great city and I'm TOTALLY looking forward to returning to CM later this year! š
Pretty much agree with everything. I will say, the burning season can be fierce! Iād always heard about it but this year has been the first experiencing it. I would definitely recommend scheduling your time away from Chiang Mai, during that timeā¦. I wouldāve left but went off and got a girlfriend (not part of my plan, lol). Yes! Totally easy to stay in CM for $1k or less. I just got a hotel room for a monthly rate. I donāt need a kitchen. Room, wifi, water & and electric⦠I have never paid more than $225. Depends how much I run the AC. Water is fixed cost. They even clean my room once a week. And no, Iām not saying where. Lol⦠Itās down Chang Phuak rd. Thatās all Iām sayin. FYI, best biscuits & gravy is at Bella Goose. Hands down.
If this place had a beach it would be the best place on earth!
I agree Chiang Mai is amazing place to I've for all the reasons you listed. I am retiring in a few ears and intend to move to Chiang Mai with my daughter. I cannot leave her behind as I am worried for her health and safety, London (where we live) is a dangerous place to live these days
Well thought out video there Mate
I love Chiang Mai. Just got back from BA Argentina which was pretty spectacular but CM is possibly the best place for nomads in Asia
I actually think that Bansko, Bulgaria is cheaper than Chiang Mai, and the Internet is fast too. But I love Chiang Mai as well!
I have been living g in KL the past few months . I have a nomad friend in Chiang Mai. I ALMOST moved to Chiang Mai , but I found an apartment walking distance to the beach in Pattaya with good internet for a really good price.. but I plan on visiting my homies in Chiang Mai . Moving to Thailand in a week!! Super excited . I love Malaysia but ready for chiller vibes
After watching Brettās videos, I spent 3 months in Chiang Mai [Iām from USA]. I love the city, but I felt a little lonely. I do plan to try again and work out of a co-working space as Brett suggested.
It looks like you are at Baan Kaew!
That place closed several years ago because the owner did not like guests.
We now stay at Riverside House over the iron bridge.
Great tips for staying in Chiang Mai.
We spend several months a year there.
Thanks for doing what you do man, love the channel! How's the internet latency and reliability? With my work I don't need crazy up and down speed, I just need it to not go down often and have a decent ping.
