TRIP REPORT | First Time on Qatar Airways A380! | London to Doha | QATAR AIRWAYS Airbus A380

Qatar Airways Trip Report flying from London to Doha onboard one of the Qatar Airways A380s on a beautiful winter day both in Europe and Asia.

A comfortable flight from London Heathrow T4 to Doha Hamad International onboard the Qatar Airways Airbus A380-800. This was my first time flying on the Qatar Airways A380 and I must say it’s a great plane, like any other A380 I’ve flown to date. However, I felt that other A380s had more legroom than this one. I’m not saying it wasn’t good, but the legroom could be better.

We took off from Rwy 27R in London Heathrow. Just after departure we made a 180° turn to the left and started our route towards Doha. We crossed the English Channel and entered Belgium, flying towards Brussels. From there we flew over Cologne, Frankfurt, and Nuremberg, before entering Austria. We overflew Linz and Vienna, flying towards the Balaton Lake in Hungary. From there we flew towards Serbia and Bulgaria.

We then reached the Black Sea, which was fully covered by clouds. We entered Turkey and, luckily, the clouds disappeared when we were starting to fly over the Zagros Mountains. This was the first time I saw them fully covered by snow. It was really amazing! We flew then over Iraq until we reached Basrah. From there we flew towards Kuwait City and entered the Persian Gulf, flying in direct course to Doha, where we landed ahead of schedule after a beautiful night approach.

About the onboard service, around 1h after departure, the crew served the main catering service which for this flight was breakfast. I went for the Chicken sausage with scrambled eggs. It came with some fresh fruit, a warm croissant with marmalade, and yogurt. Everything was quite tasty, but once again, I found the size of the warm meal really small. That was the reason why I asked for another one if available. The crew said that for sure I could, they had spare meals. With that second one, I felt it was a perfect meal size for the 5h connecting time I would have in Doha.

Around 2h before landing the crew offered a snack. It was a chicken pastry (also called “All Day Snack”). It was warm, which is something I really appreciate… but it wasn’t anything special. Very plain in flavor and it didn’t look very healthy. Good for a snack but I guess you expect more from the airline that was awarded 7 times as the best in the world.
