Happy birthday to your mom! She looks great! Tough to watch the kids go but exciting for them! We had a similar issue with our Jeep JL it turned out to be a cracked head over cylinder #4. Luckily we had an extended warranty and they replaced the engine. Good luck with everything
Good luck to the two kids and to Dan on his new channel – subscribed. There is so many options for vehicles but not sure I would spend the money on the motor. Just a thought, have you ever thought of those fold down truck campers. Will be interesting to see what you end up doing. Really enjoyed the winter at the cabin and the Canadian adventures – albeit I am a bit biased..lol.
Too bad about the Jeep, but I wouldn't give up on this platform. You've built these Jeeps to be purpose built vehicles. Myself I would go with a rebuilt engine. We're diehard Jeep fans, been into them since the 60's. Whatever route you choose good luck.

Wow how amazing is your Family, 92 Grandchildren for Oma, Its that time in life when we all have major changes, everyone scatters with the winds of change, but the linch pin to family is Oma and everyone gets together for an amazing woman, Carolyn shed the tears, they will be back, but in the mean time spread your wings of change, Any chance you can come to Australia, pick up and do a test and review on the ARB Earth Camper, amazing video on ARB Site. We think it would be a good fit in Canada, and if it survives your terrain, just a thought…
Love every minute of the journey I've taken with you guys but I have got to strongly endorse a 4runner for your next build. You'll never regret the epic durability and ability to take you anywhere with minimal maintenance. Give er a shot bud you've tried the jeeps, now give the world champs of overlanding a try!
Man, that's a hard decision. I would say a new engine because of the price of vehicles these days. And you guys have already put so much money into those Jeeps. It just is a hard decision.
Trade that dude in and get a storyteller van.
Those are some good thoughts. Have you considered a Gladiator with Alu-Cab? Or even an AEV Ram with a small 4wheel camper? I have seen plenty of those vans get stuck in some pretty easy/simple off road situations any more than just a dirt road. It seems, from watching all your videos, a more rugged 4×4 is still the right fit. Toyota's have a great name, but they are very costly and difficult to modify to match a Jeep. But if you don't need lockers, extensive wheel travel, then it is also an option. One downfall I have heard about vans is since everything is in the same box it can get noisy easily unless mitigated – like for example your dishes and silverware rattling around. That is where a more conventional truck/camper shines. But then you have instant access in a van, whereas in a truck/camper you don't. Pro's and con's all around. Of course you could sell the unused RV and put that new engine in, or possibly use the RV and do more base station style explorations. Looking forward to seeing what you decide.
I'm kinda new to the overland stuff but I have an 08 jkus that I've been slowly building but I also have a 14 f250 and I put a skinnyguy camper on it. That has been a game changer for long hauls for me. Could be something yall might wanna look into they have flushing toilets on demand, hot water solar, and heat or keep it basic like I did I started with skin and bones and will upgrade when money is available and I know which upgrades I want.
What led to Pete going to Africa but not Dan? Seems like it’s always been the brothers together up until now…

There is nothing wrong with sitting still and pondering for the Summer. Just thinking and reflecting on what your next move is going to be. Going back to basics and deciding what you want to do next fall. Repair, or sell Worsley, get rid of the camper and dirt bikes, just think. Pondering is a lost art that our grandparents were very fond of, it kept them for making hasty mistakes.
Spending the Summer at the lake with family and dear friends joining you would be joyful. Watching Carole’s garden grow and seeing her adding her rock & hosta beds, delightful. Seeing you clearing and adding walking trails to the island would be awesome. Also, if Dan was in agreement working with your son on his adventure would be a joy to watch!
I know you are a man of action, of doing, of going, always in motion. But God has a way of slowing us down, making us reflect and finding new ways to be of service.

Put a used motor in it and then if you trade it in it will be worth a lot more and if it doesn’t work out just drive it
Hello EFRT! My first ever comment. I’ve been watching you for awhile and you guys have definitely inspired me to get into the overlanding life. Albeit slowly because I’m still working. However I have purchased one of those new Ford Broncos, a Wildtrak model, and absolutely love it. Granted I have never owned a Jeep but Ford has done a really good job with these vehicles. Maybe go have a look at some and give your thoughts on it’s capability. I would love to watch you build one as everything is always thoughtfully and professionally done. I really enjoy your channel.
