Only 4 Views! The Internet should be ashamed of itself, 25 minutes away from it all, yet you choose a passing glance. Or less. Wow, 3000 Impressions in a couple of days. Not much Views and no Likes. My video of Game of Thrones/LOTR got 6000 Impressions and tons of Views. Opening boxes. I can’t take you anywhere. Wonder if anyone in France Impressed? Missing it.
Fancied the South of France for a holiday. Do you mind if I say that again? Fancied the South of France for a holiday. Ahhh… Got the maps out, did not fancy coastal places, saw Lyon. Booked a train ticket. Packed my camping backpack.
Ended up South, just south of Lyon on what turned-out to be a gorgeous campsite. Minimum requirement for a trip like this is good camping. Safe, free hot showers, clean toilets, grass pitch but it was the pitch I had which I knew would be me. June is one damn fine month to go camping in the South of France. Hot with breeze off the Alps. Not many peoples.
Heat was what I loved. Strolling into medieval town, no, village centre for croissants. Supermarket not far to beat those French opening hours. Actually very sensible. Mad dogs indeed.
So read a few books, did some walking, got bus and Metro into Lyon city and basically became there. Lots of conversations though most of them in my head. Some writing, that I hope to kindle publish soon. Photographs and a couple of movies (no way to charge batteries). Aside form Kindle Voyage I had no electronics, no internet with me. Unplugged suntan.
So many people locked into looking down and finger tipping. The art of conversation really is dying. Creativity is just a word, probably a Program. Lots of pretty women South of Lyon. The squeeze on your purse and wallet continues abroad. Cheap where I was, though not in City. Quality of bus and train services shockingly different from UK. That 16 mile bus ride just 2.20 euros. Digital readout front of bus with audible announcements for next stop. Centre alighting.
In my movie you will note the double decker Metro train one of my best pictures. Taken from the hip as you have to be careful taking pictures in Stations.
I was away from it all. No words could interrupt me as I could not understand them. If you are interested I did not change the camera clock until I arrived at destination. Five trains and a bus. The most difficult change is coming back to Paris. Train stops in the south of Paris but you need Paris du Nord (North). I only found out on the train you need two Metro trains to get to the Eurostar. Going was a doddle in Lille, you just go up an escalator to Lyon train. Without my polite conversation I think I might still be in Paris!
All around I see Governments of the rich for the rich. If everybody stopped buying gadgets and products do you think we might Govern ourselves?
