Did you know James Bond died here? Me neither, but to be honest, that’s probably the least impressive thing about Kalsoy. Join me on a ferry across to the island from Klaksvík, a bus along the full length of its spine (and through a number of scary tunnels) before we arrive in Trøllanes, a tiny community right at the northern tip. From there, we’ll hike the remaining way to the lighthouse along a ridge which I’m trying hard to forget about 😀 The view from this point is like nothing else I’ve ever seen – I’d love to hear what you think about it? And the Kalsoy adventure doesn’t even end here. On the way back we have an unexpected stop at a breathtakingly beautiful village with a story to tell. Join me on the final part of my Faroese adventure. Thanks for watching.

Filmed on Wednesday 14th June 2023 on location in The Faroe Islands.

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON’T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I’m afraid – time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE’S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature as often as possible, but I’m afraid she has a proper job so it can take weeks for our schedules to match up.
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I’ve only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you’d like to support further, I’ll pop links below for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don’t like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don’t even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I’m open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don’t want to get into talking about products, it’s something I don’t like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for YouTube Premium). So it’s probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

  1. I'm now considering my next life as a Ram on the Faroe Islands! The views are worthy of a spiritual awakening! Thank you sir. ✌️❤️ 🇺🇲

  2. As a Kiwi and being from a sheep and cattle farm, or ranch as Americans say, first, those sheep don’t seem to have ever been shorn, I mean, – goodness. What a mess, and secondly, what happened to all the trees?

  3. Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"

Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ."

Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"

Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?…"

Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"

Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."

Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."

Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

  4. Hello from warm and sunny Georgia, USA. I've never been outside North America so your video was a delight. I subscribed and looking forward to more. You're very good at what you do. Thanks for sharing.

  5. "That would be some voyage, wouldn`t it?"

And it you would do something useful in your life instead of opening the orifice beneath your nose to let some hot air escape, this would be even greater !!!

  6. During my only visit to The North Cape, we left our car and by then sailed to Honningsvåg and found the yellow busses to the Cape (No tunnel in the seventies). When going back we had expected the arrival would be at the ferry-time, and it was. The ferry just left when we arrived! Spending many hours in Honningsvåg waiting for the next ferry to arrive. isn't that exiting!

  7. These places are so pretty in sunny day, with calm seas, but Atlantic Ocean, and it's coast is no joke when the weather is rough.

  8. And as a now elderly Dane I have never actually visited this part of Denmark, The Faroes, but many times I flew from Copenhagen with Faroese owned "Atlantic Airways" to Malta, and this, special island is clear to see in their "Flight Magazine"!
As an added bonus, both Pilot and Crew of course also speaks Danish, besides their local, Faroese language. And landing in Vágar Airport by main Torshavn, may be at times very challenging from the weather, so we feel sure that landing in "Luqa" Airport, on Malta, is an easy job compared with that!
