  1. Let her be successful with this high end restaurant and she'll gift you a budget food truck for you smaller wallets 😆

  2. Lot of ignorance, jealousy, and virtue signaling – typical human behavior, they never know the amount of work it takes and just judge lol because most people also never want to put in the work and are lazy and judgmental

  3. Looks like this isn't a place that Mike Chen will pay a visit to anytime soon since he's against expensive Asian foods. Lol! I have no issues with price as long as the foods are good. It's obvious that her restaurant is aiming towards non Asians customers with money, she even said it her video. When I'm in LA this fall, I'll go get dinner there and see if it's worth the price.

  4. You guys make a good point: Nobu is known to be a place that non-Asians often frequent. So I don’t see why you can’t make a similar high-end Vietnamese restaurant

  5. If your stomach is hungry and you'll trying to fill it, this restaurant is not for you. If you're taking a nice girl out on a date who will put out if you spend a lot of money on her, this restaurant might be a good option.

  6. From a business perspective, she can start on the high end and/or pivot to open up lower priced restaurants down the line.

  7. I wish her much success in her future endeavors. Anyone who are willing to venture into the hospitality industry will gain lots of if anything the true spirit of entrepreneurs and the art of dealing with people. 👊 building grits..💪

  8. Fung bros, cmon man Asians are in the upper echelon of economic strata and the statistics prove that. Let’s be real, she is targeting rich/upper middle class Asian people and rich/upper middle class people who don’t mind spending money on a single meal. Will a cheaper place provide a more “authentic“ and “cheaper” experience? Sure but if I’m in Cali and I’m making bank, then I’m probably going to eat at her restaurant.

  9. asking who she made the restaurant for because the price is so how high is implying that vietnamese people cant afford to pay higher end prices. The majority of Vietnamese on the west coast live in the Bay area and OC, the most expensive areas to live in California. Nextshark comments are completely braindead

  10. Pho used to cost around $8 to $10 while restaurants can charge somewhere around $15 to $20 for ramen. I feel like we should elevate the price per bowl of pho. It costs as much to cook a good bowl of pho as of ramen. So for that being said I don’t mind paying $20 for pho But $75 is so pretentious. In A fancy Italian restaurant you can order a real good seafood pasta for $30 , $40. I am talking about high end Italian restaurants. They make their money by selling you wine and drinks But a bowl of pho for $75 is a phony proposition

  11. 1st time I ever heard of Twaydabae was in one of your foodcrawl videos a few years ago. Was psyched when she got a Dennys collab and now her own restaurant. Pretty cool.

  12. There is high end Vietnamese cuisine but hers isn't really at that level. I've eaten Vietnamese Gourmet food in Westminster and Garden Grove, and I was happy to spend $150-$200 there!

  13. It caters towars rich tech boys, influencer baddies, bich boss women type. If you want food go to neighborhood stores, if you want photos for gram give it a go. 😊

  14. Nothing wrong with offering a higher-end option regardless of the genre of cuisine. She's catering to a certain clientele. It's not meant to attract the masses in the same way that a Chinatown mom and pop would. If you think it's excessive for what's being offered, then don't dine there. Let the free market decide whether this restaurant ultimately succeeds or fails.

  15. How do people have such limited understanding of markets and economics? This is basic shit she had to explain, the price point represents a different market. Just go eat at a cheap place then, the price is obviously not meant to target you. What’s funny is it’s probably tons of Vietnamese ppl in those comments.

  16. Let her cater to whatever audience she chooses. It’s true, you can get GOOD, affordable Vietnamese cuisine for less than $75/ plate so go where you can afford & let her cater to the higher end folks.

  17. Nothing wrong with offering a different experience. Some people can afford higher end ingredients and if you it's not for you then don't go!

  18. Phở Noodle and a lot of Viet Dishes is, and always will be, working class, farmer food. If there isn't a Viet Aunty/Uncle in the BOH kitchen yelling orders at each other, I'm not gonna patron your fancy restaurant.

  19. Doesn’t matter if the food is high quality, the location, because it’s Vietnamese. For her first restaurant and no experience other than tik tok, who is she to be sell expensive food??

  20. Put it this way. If white people can appropriate other people's cultures and sell the items for more than Asians would charge it due to "high end" branding and plating, why can't she do the same with her own culture? Also $50 pp for Vietnamese food isn't crazy, where I'm from there's a really good Viet spot with deeper cut dishes and between two of us it was about $55 per person but well worth for the flavors. What I'm trying to say is don't sleep on Viet food guys (and I hope she makes a killing off of basic white palates).

  21. All these people on here saying all Asians should support her…… but the restaurant isn't geared towards Asians. She's doing what DTF and many other "expensive" Asian restaurants
