If you do end up going to Berlin, the Best thing in it is probably the Zoo as it's one of the best I've ever been too.
Though there is a smaller city to the South West called Potsdam which I think is probably much nicer than Berlin especially in summer or whenever the weather is nice mainly due to all the park/palaces that are in it.
