In this video I spend a day traveling in Hungary from Gyor to Sopron and show you how much things cost.

  1. Gabriel, as a beer lover you are in the right region of Europe / the world – Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic… Beer heaven.

  2. I' ve been too in Santorini in 2009, stayed at Fyra, best month is July. Now is much more expensive. In 10/8, I'm gonna be in Roppen, one hour from Innsbruck. Tell me your opinion if you passed by

  3. Hey Gabriel! Isten hozott and a very warm welcome to you in our country! Travelling to Sopron and taking advantage of being "on foot" i recommend to you staying at the Palatinus Hotel Sopron which is a centrally located place right in the middle of medieval Sopron. Dont miss taking the stairs up to the "Tüztorony" which is the old fire-tower, and pay a visit to local winelovers stronghold "Gyógygödör", which is a classic wine-cellar withstanding the pace of time 🙂 in case of any questions also concerning budapest, please ask, have fun!!

  4. I have been sick for three years and you would not believe how much l look forward to your travel adventures… I love the way you explain everything and give historical facts and information wherever you are.. Thank you for your videos… They take me to places around the world that l doubt l would be able to see on my own even though l loved to travel before…

  5. Hi Gabriel, the trip over to Sopron was interesting as you indicated it was a bit livelier yet doesn't seem to invite tourists which may be why they lack it outside of the capital city of Budapest. The language becomes more of a bit of a stalemate navigating through these locations you do make an effort, but some languages are particularly difficult to learn in a brief time even some rudimentary phases would take some time.

  6. I can’t believe the lack of people in these towns, maybe inflation is worse there than Western European Countries??
Wow, just looked up, no wonder folks aren’t out and about eating etc, and we think we have it bad 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The annual inflation rate in Hungary eased to a five month-low of 24% in April 2023 from 25.2% in the previous month, and slightly below market expectations of 24.2%. Prices slowed for food (37.9% vs 42.6% in March), electricity, gas, and other fuels (41.8% vs 43.1%) and consumer durables (9.3% vs 11.2%).

  7. There is a-direct- train from Vienna to Sopron, or at least there was one in 1981.
While watching your vid,you jogged my memory;when I got off the train in Sopron,in 1981,I(everybody) was greeted by 15 people with machine guns. Not being totally comfortable in this situation,I hung back and was the last one off the train. All good at the end as I ended up giving a 5 minute english lesson to the guys with the guns.

  8. Huge thanks for popularizing Sporon, one of the nicest town in the country. However you totally missed the best places and sights, unfortunately. Fun fact: i only visited that same restaurant once, but we were sitting at the very same table.😅

  9. The weather you describe is exactly how it is currently in UK (due to the jet stream giving heatwave to southern europe). Grey, sun pops out, gets warm, then sun quickly disappears and its cold again and damp (and then rain) plus lots of wind. Usually July is much better in UK so presume Hungary is having similar weather.

  10. Great to see the you’re enjoying hearty Hungarian food washed down with a good dark beer!
If not too late I recommend trying a Dunkel Weissbier or three! Dark version of the wheat beers you were enjoying in Austria and Lichtenstein 🍻

  11. I keep watching your videos as they are very useful to gain new travel ideas but it does frustrate me when you don't check some basic travel information on line first, for example how to get to Sopron from Győr you would see the best way is by train – I try to do a bit of homework first and find it always always pays off rather than wingin' it! Nevertheless keep travelling Gabriel!

  12. Hi Gabriel I like your channel we learn a lot from the price from the visas food transportation, thanks and one more thing I have to say your videos quality getting better, not moving Mach your camera ,thanks,

  13. If you visit Eger, Hungary, please let me know. I'm an American, been living in Hungary for the past 20 years. Would be more than happy to show you around our beautiful historic town.

  14. Sopron looks amazing I find it interesting that in the old town there was that Roman wall which was only discovered during WWII and more different buildings built around and on top? Anyway loved this video always nice to go off the beaten track cheers

  15. The jazz music along with historical story of area then ending with great 🍻 beer and food!?. No one does it better then Gab. Cheers! Great video❤️. This was a good one. Makes me hungry for Hungary.

  16. Don't try older people, many of them only speaks broken german, and hungarian only. Ask younger people, usually they speak english, and not trying to sort of brush off. Maybe train is a better choice, if you don't want to be crammed.
