I’m setting up base camp in Nimes for one week. The Nimes airport bus drops you off at the railway station, and after a quick ‘pick me up’ I find my apartment and then explore the neighbourhood which is all within a 1 mile radius.

Filmed July 2023 | Nimes, France.

  1. Excellent intro to the City Scott. Can't wait for the remainder of the series.

1 sour point…I hate cyclists! They're an absolute menise but I'll let you have that one!!!

  2. Hi Scott from Spain. I like French cities/large towns and even small towns/villages. Did you not do French at school? I did and I left school, 66 years ago but I can still manage to read it and speak some but it gets confusing when I also have to manage Spanish. One of my go-tos in a foreign town has to be a supermarket to see what they have and how much they have to pay for it. Supermarkets used to be banned from selling bread on a Sunday to give the small bakers a chance, I don't know if that is till the case. Enjoy yourself and we'll look forward to your videos.

  3. "The best apple juice I've ever tasted"…Yeah, Scott, we believe you!😏 Great intro to the city, and thanks for taking us along, and delighted the new GoPro is working. Excellent definition, at least on my screen. Looking forward to the next instalment in this historic town!

  4. A product that was ‘invented’ in Nimes, a product owned by most, Denim…….derived from the full name ‘Serge de Nimes’. Just a little trivia for you🧐

  5. Yeah the " City" part after the brand name indicates its a convenience store rather than a proper supermarket. In The Netherlands we have the same, the largest chain Albert Heijn has a "to go" version of the stores with more ready to eat stuff at higher prices and hardly any traditional groceries, typically located at train stations and such.

  6. I visited on an Interail trip in 2001 and have been to Marseilles several times. Loverly place and people. I have a few trips coming up in the next few months to Berlin, Seville and Cordoba, and Krakow and Prague. Thanks to your plane tips keeping everything as cheap as possible and I was genuinely surprised what great value the hotels are and how cheap the rail fares are everywhere compared to the UK. Enjoy this area of France it’s beautiful.

  7. Excellent vlog, Nimes seems to have history throughout, can’t wait for the rest of vlogs from France. How much was your apartment for the week.

  8. Your sponsorship segment was so well done 😂 and Nimes looks pretty cool too (although not in temperature) look forward to more (and a snoop around a big supermarket!)

  9. Fun fact the material your jeans are made from originally came from Nime- de Nime became denim. 👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️from 🇦🇺

  10. An interesting one, as always. The history in that area is incredible. And call me a nerd, but I am always curious about groceries and the prices in other countries. Bring the grocery store tour on!

  11. I visited in 2000 and had Euro travellers cheques. What a pain that was getting them cashed. I dont remember too much of the city. Is the word denim derived from Nime?

  12. Hi Scott, nae wonder ye cannae afford a hotel wi breakfast after buying a new gopro and a camera. Ha ha. Keep them coming. All the best frae Thailand.
