    NO POWER IN AN ITALIAN HEATWAVE! | And Meet the Artists From La Stradina EP 246



    LUNCH RECIPE:
    I threw together a tin of cannellini beans, chopped tomatoes, cucumber, arugula and some mixed salad greens, sliced red onion and later added some tuna. Mixed with some black and white rice, sprinkled with olive oil and lemon juice.

    To find the artists on the Stradina, just head down to the beach from Piazza Mulini. Or if coming from the ferries, go up the church steps and it’s right there!

      I would be 100% dependent on our gas generator, like we are during hurricanes. I can, and i freeze, but i coukd only get by for about 3 months. Hopefully someone would come up with another idea in the meantime. My husband is also pretty inventive. I would be dependent on the ocean breezes for cooling, the bay for food, and again, the ocean for cooling in the hottest part of the day. I pray it never comes to this! 😂😂😂

      It's interesting Carlo made the comment about solar storms when and its true they occur many times but we have come so reliant in tech and take for granted having power 24/7. Its one of the reasons over the past 2 years i have started purchasing portable camp stoves, like a Solo stove or alcohol run, picking up extra water, portable solar panels/ battery power and non perishable foods. Its basically a beginners prep so i am able to help myself and possibly others should we have extended power outage. I think its important to have some sort of preparation just in case. Julia's story was great, it must be amazing to grow up in the same place, beautiful girl and her english is excellent. 😊

      Ted Koppel (renowned American journalist – b4 journalism was W0KE), wrote a book on this subject years back titled ‘Lights Out’ it was a highly interesting read! ‘Mr. GI0b@I’ 😏 has been dropping hints on this for a while now. We don’t like to think about such matters but there is a whole “reality” happening just adjacent to us unfortunately. Back in April of this yr, in ⚜️, 🇨🇦, we had no p0wer for 4 days. We charged our phones via our automobiles, and kept warm via our fuel fireplace, thankfully! Finally, true story…our neighbour, who owns a tesI@ decided that to keep it running, had to get FUEL from a local gas station, for their generator, to charge their car 🙄🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️, that’s my favourite joke to recount, to often …lighten the mood on this subject. 😎

      I agree with you Carlos & Nicki. We (everyone) rely on electricity, and when it's out, it's out, unless you have a generator or don't care about it.
      Eventually, when my husband & and I build a new home I'm making sure that we're able to install a hand pump for water, but look into other sources should power fail. It's amazing what we all take for granted..

      Ciao Nicki & Carlo, I am part way through your wonderful book Nicki…BRAVISSIMI!! I'm really enjoying it. I received it about a month ago, it arrived swiftly here to NZ. You need to be so very proud of your first attempt . Fantastic, it takes you right to the spot, feeling you are there in Positano, the life there, the culture, language, food etc. Havevyou read any of Nicky Pellegrino's novels? Very very similar, again taking you on the journey. She writes novels with connections between NZ and Italy, lovely easy read. Anyway, I'm glad I purchased " A boat full of Lemons" and know for sure there are more novels in you to release 😊

      In USA there is an off grid portable air conditioner called ChillWell. $89-120 . Can be charged as regular using electric outletOR if no electricity —- can use USB port to charge from your Car, Power Banks or even charred Computer! Quickly will cool a small room for emergency cooling

      Agree on make preparations for electrical outages. A few years ago TX had a freak winter storm that dumped alot of snow & the power went out for many & heaters weren’t working & then the pipes froze & busted causing water damage to homes. My elderly mom lost power & was starting to get cold even wearing a heavy winter coat. My sister luckily did have power & was able to get my mom. So yes we need to prep. Best thing is to keep a positive mindset & help each other.😊
