A dreamy village in the Normandy region of Northern France, lying on the bank of the Seine River – the inspiring lands for so many who changed the course of art as we know it. Peaceful, colorful and tranquil – Giverny is a delight for all the senses.

Over time, many Impressionist artists settled in the lands of Giverny- of those artists is the revolutionary Claude Monet who created the magnificent home and gardens that are still there to this day. The archways, the water lilies, the Japanese bridge, the abundance of wisterias, azaleas and exotic types of flowers were all inspirations for some of Monet’s most famous paintings.

Also found in the village of Giverny is the Musée des Impressionnismes Giverny which dedicates itself to the history and impact of Impressionism with gardens and contemporary architecture, housing pieces from Impressionist painters such as Eugène Boudin, Paul Signac, Pierre Bonnard, and Claude Monet to name a few.

Hôtel Baudy is also a main attraction found in the village which was the lively meeting place of inspiration for artists such as Renoir, Cezanne and Robinson, and can still be enjoyed today for lunch, dinner, or drinks.

Giverny is a village that relaxes and inspires, a village to get lost in and reflect, to slow down and breathe. Giverny is filled with creative beauty and a place to explore for anyone seeking peace and tranquility.

  1. Thank you for posting this, a wonderful memory of going to Giverny- in my lovely Normandie. My family live a few kilometres from here, used to visit Monet's beautiful house and gardens often in the past – last time was 4 years ago…. My favourite place!
