I’m closing the roof of the utility space and have some help from Christoffer, Gigi and Pietro putting the stones back on.

  1. Martijn, I knew the archway would look amazing! Everything you do is meticulously thought out and crafted. I watched Two Years on a Bike last week. Amazing journey! Thank you for these wonderful videos. 🇨🇦

  2. love your work Martijn. fleas: how we got rid of fleas in the carpet .. the eggs are pretty much impervious to pesticide, they hatch suddenly and explosively when there is vibration (an animal walks past and they jump onto it) – so, transferring my carpet experience to your walls, vacuum the walls several times a day – the eggs will hatch with the vibration and you'll suck away the fleas… worth a try???

  4. Martin, just to agree with the last comment. You must spend a great deal of time editing. Your videos are as meticulous as all of your other ventures! On Sunday mornings I grab a cup of coffee and my puppy and we sit down for a good long watch. It's amazing that an hour goes by so quickly. Callie, my pup, loves watching for your chickens, she loves them! Not to chase them, but my dog has a fascination with all other animals. I even have a video of her jumping in front of the t.v. watching you and the chickens. Keep up the great work Martin. MORE CHICKENS!

  5. Can anyone out there recommend a real estate agency listing these types of properties? Have not had any luck with the people I've written in Torino.

  6. Haven't been Johannes in a while. Hope he is well.
    Best wishes to you both.
Congratulations on your amazing accomplishments, Martijn!
    Remarkable!
    And truly inspirational!

  7. Hello Martin,

I hope you’re keeping well and good health, I’ve been following you for some time now, since you first moved and arrived on to this beautiful space.

My self and my partner hayley are going to be travelling around in our van next year and would love to come and say Hi! I’m sure we can both be of some help there if you’re ok for us to come by and camp out for a couple of days or something?

We’ve got a patch of land here in Manchester, UK at the moment but it’s been raining here very heavily for the summer and it’s flooded the whole of the land now on three different occasions, it can get a little testing pushing through our battles with nature but with everything comes it’s challenges 😅

Anyways, it would be good to connect with you sir, I have thousands of organic vegetable seeds here, all fresh, I’d like to send you a box in the mail if that’s cool, with a book as well that’s come in handy for me with our land.

    Catch you soon mate 😎
    Dempsey

  8. I used to love watching my chickens and the little sounds they made.. love your videos and your music is beautiful.. you push your body to its limits .. I wonder if you will stay after this is finished??

  9. Architect opinion here. While I understand your wish to maintain the composition & history of the two cabins I completely disagree with the idea that what was there should stay there exactly.

There is nothing wrong with adaptive reuse as it celebrates the old by the juxtaposition of the new. It makes the old more valuable even. A sub par functional space is no good to anyone and using a roof as a terrace is just silly. The pitch is most definitely too steep. To use that roof as a terrace. If the design was not great why not make minor adjustments?

I’d put a timber deck over half of the stone roof and a nice one step entry connection to the door from the rear terrace level. people will read the old and new and it creates a moment of them to reflect back. That’s great!

I like when architecture forces thinking. An example is a footpath narrowing or a stone crossing on a creek so neighbours waking in different directions have to wait & be courteous. It forces manners, a time to meet and a sense of community. A deck will force users to think of the history before crossing the threshold.

    Hope this helps

  10. You were a great inspiration for my own little project I finished about two weeks ago. Not stone but wood, not in the alps but in the apennine…but what matters is the spirit: I "copied" from you the calm and the patience with myself, doing things step by step, enjoying the process without rushing. Organizing, thinking, building, cleaning up AND doing a household whilst being alone is quite challenging. cheers!

  11. I wonder if you and "Raising Voyagers" are in the same area…. looks extremely similar where they're at….

  12. Do yourself a favor and watch the first 3 episodes, Martijn's first days on the property.
So very satisfying as we see Martijn planning things that we've all seen come to fruition.

  13. Hi Martijn. We are watching your number 77 at the moment in New Zealand. We feel you have stopped talking! You explain things every so often but you go ages saying nothing. You are an amazing worker and we really have e joyed watching your progress but please have a chat every so often. Regards. Joy from NZ

  14. Congratulations on completing the arch! What a great feeling it must have been when you removed the wooden form. Now you know what the first guy to do it must've felt like. Thanks for another good video.

  15. Please Martijan be careful choosing your mushrooms. Here in Victoria,Australia just this week we have lost 3 people to mushroom poisoning. Also a young man a few weeks ago with the same. Thank you for the amazing hrs of relaxing enjoyment ( almost as good as meditation) I have had from your weekly updates.
