I went back home to America after living in Thailand for 3 years, it was quite interesting but here are my thoughts.

  1. Welcome to Thailand! Great to hear that you're enjoying it. When I was a kid back in the late 80s – early 90s, I always envisioned how great it would be to live in the US, especially California. Today, it looks like a s*it hole country. Its sad how bad it's become and what I've noticed from YouTube vids are that all violent crimes seem to be committed by the same group of people. It's almost like they're wired differently than the rest of us. Not all races are mixed well with one another, i guess.

  2. Amen. I’ve been here in Thailand for 8.5 years, and other countries since 1999. I never regret leaving America. I’m from placerville , ca. by the way. The last time I visited the states was 2006. I already couldn’t stand it. Whenever I get the urge to be around people who look like me (which is not often), I go to Europe. Blows America out of the water. America is a sinking ship. I can’t imagine visiting ever again.

  3. Finally someone speaks the truth about the left from USA , u guys, us Australian Uk and Canadians are all living slave lifeless lives and I’m getting out of it soon too, I can’t stand the blind followers of the corrupt western governments, they are the elites pets and do there bidding

  4. I moved from the Bay Area to Bangkok when I was 22 in 2006. The contrast in quality of life has gotten much worse over time, now I can’t imagine even wanting to settle down there one day anymore, without even mentioning the prices.

Know that feeling all too well of running out of relatable conversation quickly with old friends I used to be able to hang with all the time.

  5. I left Cali in 2018. I am next door in Cambodia. I went back a year ago and was so stunned by the costs, social upheaval, and what the American dream has become, I couldn't wait to get back on a plane. The amount of homelessness, drug zombies, and poorly hidden anxiety in just about everyone I encountered tells me that my home country is suffering from a severe existential crisis.

  6. Hey bro. Your dead on with your weeds on California.
Question. What general area of Bangkok do you live in ? Trying to consider areas to stay for a long period but want to be close but not to close to Sukhumvit – thanks bro

  7. You had a good experience in California because black older people fought for you to have Rights.. now their families are plagued with institutional racism and you want them to be imprisoned… No sir..

  8. The government gave your people loans to get started in business.. no such thing was given to black people… This is how your people were able to get started.

  9. Avarage house in a good neighborhood at U$ 1.2 mill wow.. In Moscow Russia I'd buy a Mension in a super upper class neighborhood and have some change left.. US people think their rich because of GDP lol, Not really PPP is a much better measuring method.. Earning U$ 3k a month in Moscow(the most expensive city in Russia) would put you into the Upper middle income group, In DC your at lower middle income group in NY your lower income group(Same size as Moscow).. Crime is very low and quality of life is much higher, Here's a growing expat American community, Most I know and have spoken to don't want to go back to USA despite western media propaganda, people here knows it's propaganda lol… Moscow Metro plans to build a US expat city within the Metro they've identified a few possible places already due to a rising demand, Russia already has 3mil expats from the US most ever, Mostly conservative white Christians and many guys who come here to look for love and ends up marrying and staying because they love it here, Russian girls in General are much more conservative, Cultural and traditional unlike US girls who are mostly into the hookup culture and degeneracies of all kinds… Goodluck though to USA I'll never move back

  10. You know a lot. I live in Maryland, and it is the same here. You nailed it perfectly in this video, on the current status of America after just a two week visit. I have visited Thailand 4 times, and I fell in love with that country. I’m 54 and ready to make a change. I think god wanted me to see your video this morning. I have subscribed to your channel today, and look forward to sharing your adventures thru Thailand and wherever else your travels take you. Take care.

  11. I am a lot older than you a for my entire life 95% of the people in the world just exists. Work and go home. No hobbies or vactions or other excitement. Just existing in life!

  12. A friend from California visited me in Massachusetts, and she was scared to leave her jacket in the car. She was shocked that we didn't have to worry about that here. I think it all depends on where you live in America.

  13. I spent 10 months traveling SE Asia and came back to the US two months ago. The whole "just exist" thing is what gets me the most. I'm in rural Appalachia, so there's no real crime, but lots of junkies, but people just exist. I see people I went to high school with that work the same job in the same factory that they were at in 1997.

  14. California is not a reflection of American. Your vision is a bit narrow. But if I was to choose between California or Thailand…Thailand wins easily.

  15. new sub here, great videos. First off, thank you for your military service. Second, hello to USA where you are now, via Taiwan. I'm sorta a Youtube content creator, but I have a sad little channel that needs a lot of love. Was curious about your travels befode settling in Thailand. Did you visit many other SEA countries in the military or vacation before settling in Thailand? Thanks and keep up the great posts

  16. I noticed Thailand, Malaysia, China and some other Asian countries are building so many houses. It's like they predicted a lot of people will (or have already) manoeuve to South East Asia in the past and coming years due to the Western world going down very quickly now. My daughter and her boyfriend, both 22, just came back from a 3 weeks trip in Thailand and they had an amazing time there. They had no worries about food and house prices, transportation, tax etc, like we do have it here in the Netherlands. And the energy they got from Thailand was so positive. The minute they came back and landed in the Netherlands, they got an negative vibe already in the first minutes. So they decided to move to maybe Malaysia, Thailand or China, where the future is much brighter for them, their grandmother and their future children. Dear Forrest, I saw your video about the 'protests' in Hongkong. Now you're much more open minded and wiser, do you still have the same thoughts about what went on there in HK, now 3 years later? I think a lot of cities in mainland China are now very well to live in. What is your opinion, Forrest?

  17. Forrest, you are 100% spot on. One thing: you mentioned that in California we are just “existing”, but the more accurate word for me is “enduring”. I’m being worked to death for a couple more years until I’m comfortable with my savings, then it’s all thailand for me.

  18. I really appreciate your honesty in your videos. I too am from the bay area in Ca. and you are correct we are surviving. Luckily there is still a couple of wonderful places left to go and hide in, for I'm in one. However, I'm retiring soon and I will be gone as soon as my wife and I can logistically make that happen. I think SE Asia is going to explode with young and old Americans who just want to raise there kids in a safe positive environment and are seeking the simple life like it all used to be here.

  19. Some friends you keep for life. Others for while and some for a season. Your life is drastically different from theirs. You have grown in a different direction than they have. But yes, a lot of us in the US are just existing. There is a sense of the American spirit being crushed. People can't find good jobs. There's lots of service industry and gig work but not a lot of careers with benefits. People are having a hard time buying housing and forming solid relationships and families. There's a few people out here still making it happen…. mostly the people crossing the border right now are the ones who believe in the American Dream. California does have more problems than some places but they're always the trendsetter. As California goes, so goes the US. NY controls the money and CA the culture. I'm in Kansas City and I can see it here. Almost all of my friends can't afford the average neighborhoods we grew up in.

  20. your Cali story sounded like from where i am, the Philippines. particularly in the rural areas, where there's not much choice or option economically speaking.

  21. Thanks for sharing your experienced but some young Thai people still want to go there for find better life. After I listened you make me understanding everything. And welcome to Thailand 🇹🇭🙏🏼😊

  22. I am 35, I went to Thailand for 3 months last year and I’m coming back to live there this year. I decided that I am wasting good years of life living in monotony in America. I do digital art and work doing art commissions. I am still working in my career and I am not where I want to be financially but I feel that living in Thailand will even save me money and give me more time to work on art while living better life experiences.

  23. There is a lot of talk about increasing the requirements for retiring in thailand these days. The Elite Visa prices are about to go way up this fall. Any rumours about the 50+ retirement visa? I fear thailand is going to price me out of retiring there soon due to the recent motorcycle gangs crime wave triggering officials to talk about much stricter requirements.

  24. Counting the days until I'm back in Thailand, only a couple of months left in San Francisco. Looking forward to your next video, I've taken some initial steps to change my residency.

  25. Good afternoon. I’ve been looking at Thailand content now for about two months and I just discovered your channel today. I am feeling about the US the way you feel. I will be in Thailand for two months in December and already I’m thinking about not coming back. I haven’t even touched the soil there yet. thanks for the Contant and I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way.

  26. Keep living your dream! I so enjoy seeing your videos and all the places you that you go to. Some people don't ever get to live out their dreams. You are spot on with what is happening in USA. I live down South and we all are in a spiral. Keep the videos coming.

  27. I left California in 2022 after 20 years of living there. Phuket was my first destination. I fell in love with Thailand but ultimately decided it was not fast paced and multicultural enough for me. I will definitely return for a holiday though. Phuket is one of the most beautlful and relaxing places I've ever been (at least during Covid). I'm sure it's absolutely RAMMED now and a different world to the Phuket I was introduced to that February in 2022. Ahh the memories.

  28. Had 44 adult years in CA, 22 in beach cities, 22 in SoCal mountains. Retired in UT, now Thailand. Inflation in USA is good for me now. Nice raises in SS makes life even easier in Thailand.

  29. I will agree that I too was happy to get back to Thailand a few days ago but that has pretty much been the case for the last 14 years. I was back in the states as well for 5 weeks and the friends and family I was with and visited were happy and although prices are up they were still going out and enjoying themselves. How lucky are we to be able to land in Thailand where our money quadruples and you are suddenly considered rich when you land and beautiful women that wouldn’t give you the time of day in the states are falling at your feet, I’m being sarcastic but there is truth in there somewhere. What I try and remember is the average Thai has many of the struggles as well and was just reminded yesterday as we were shopping for school lunch that my wife has to shop for every two weeks how much prices are up to for the average Thais. I also just met a Thai gentleman on my flight back who was a cotton buyer and just traveling back from North Carolina and was saying how lucky we are to be born in the USA and have the rights we have throughout the world and so many Thais are trying to get there as it’s still the land of opportunity and you can excel if you work hard.
When I was back I was able to get a few days of work in and in one day I made the same as what an average government teacher makes in a month here. I absolutely love the culture here and have embraced most ways of life and actually just made morning alms with one of our local monks at sunrise, nothing better! Political bs is same same everywhere and just have to look at the latest election but the young generation are only a cycle or two away from having the rights to even question those in power without the worry of being jailed. I prefer living in Thailand but end of the day it is not for everyone but works for me, however I still love the USA and California and believe it’ll be just fine.
