Hej Allihopa!
I was an exchange student in Sweden way back in 97/98 and I’m back to pedal the length of this beautiful country. I’m starting my adventure above the Arctic Circle in Kiruna, and I’ll make my way down to the bottom of Sweden where my host family lives. In this episode, I wake up in a warm bed and hope for no rain (or mosquitos). At the end of the day, I meetup with Bike Tour Mike, a local Swedish YouTuber.

9:29 I was a snowmaker about 20 miles (as the crow flies west) from your hometown.
That is a very large pile of manmade snow that doesn't look very well maintained for skiing.
I would bet a beer that the snow pile is the community's water reservoir for the summer. It could be for crop irrigation and/or drinking water.
And if it's not against the local law, I bet people make turns on that snow until it melts.
I can literally walk around the corner in NYC and get lingonberry 😂 Best berries ever but not for everyone. Hard to describe but think it’s like a cranberry only tarter and sweeter. Very distinctive flavor.
You had this buddy all along
I love Mike’s Norway 🇳🇴 bikepacking videos ❤
Heja Skåne🥰
As someone who is in their mid 30's and feeling old and rickety, you give inspiration
Glad to see the sun come out Ryan! That was getting hard to watch you suffer during all that rain while all the other cycling YouTubers were enjoying the summer sunshine 🌞
👍😁👏🇸🇪
This is how it is – without bad/negative we wouldn't know how to appreciate good/positive 🙂 So thanks to the rainy weather the sunny weather became even more enjoyable 🙂
Yippee! The sun came out, and you got to meet Bike Touring Mike! Wow, that lake was so beautiful and calm. Thank you for sharing your bike packing dreams with us.
At this point, the species DNA exchange is complete. You are half mosquito and every mosquito in Sweden is part Ryan. Just no biting anyone. Lol.
Man I can't wait to see when you finally enter the southern half of Sweden, specifically Västra Götaland. Been loving this adventure so far and I look forward to seeing more! Maybe bring John and Mira next time!
Great to see you do a tour in Europe! I didn’t know the European Divide yet…looks like a great experience! I also follow Mike’s channel, both of you are very inspiring and makes me want to go biking 🚴 Did part of the NC500 in april this year, a great route and a beautiful adventure!
You’re one happy Duzer. Got curious about your encounter with the white reindeer, and read this:
“For the Sámi, white reindeer have extra special meanings. They believe they have magical powers. In fact, the Sámi believe if you catch a white reindeer, you will be blessed with wealth, luck, and happiness. In other stories, a great white reindeer created the world.”
What a dream bikepacking! Amazing 🎉
The Legend meets The Man! A big admirer of you both, much respect. So stoked for the coming episodes. Peace out ✌.
Glad to see the Wisconsin State Bird stayed in Sweden this year. 😂 We haven’t had any mosquitoes here this year and I mean none. Hopefully they don’t arrive in the Fall. Enjoy your trip Ryan.
Im so happy you finally got some better weather. Mike is awesome. Ive watched a few of his trips. Beautiful.
Enjoyed the singing ryan, always raises the spirits. Love mike, such a gentle guy and always makes amazing videos. Top man 👍
The book is amazing – I loved it 😊
Is the book available as an ebook yet?
Come visit Croatia you will enjoy biking over Adriatic coast to Dubrovnik. Just got into bikepacking and really find your videos inspiring.
Again, thansk for putting all that love on Scandinavia, Ryan! Amazing. And I love that you got the Skånska accent!
I am currently touring along the Rhine and wish the sun wouldn't come out. The heat is unbearable.
You are the Bob Ross of bikepacking!
I really worried about you sometimes, I don't know what to expect when I watched your videos but I quess if something bad happens you will cut it out if you can. I really enjoy watching the new videos.
I’m enjoying watching your adventures. Thank you
Enjoying all the videos as usual, beautiful Sweden
Hi Ryan. I'm not sure if you'll see this or not, but I just wanted to let you know that your videos inspired me to "Get out there". I'm 60 years old with bad knees, a cranky back, and a bit of "extra energy", so I know I'll never be able to do the things you do. At first that was holding me back from jumping in, but as I watched more of your videos I realized… It's not about doing what you can do, it's about doing what I can do. So I got myself an ebike, and now I go out riding every day I can. Nothing too epic, 20-30 mile rides on paved roads and trails, but I absolutely love it. I'll never ride the Baha divide or bikepack the length of Sweeden, but nothing's gonna stop me from doing the things I CAN do, and having fun doing it.
Thank you for your videos and for your wonderful and inspiring attitude toward life. I just wanted you to know that at least one person took your advice and "Got out there" 🙂
Another Doozy of a Duzer! Ryan: Your linguistic talents (Spanish and Swedish) are incomparable ….. especially in the time interval since you were in Sweden. Connecting in their language with the residents of the country you're visiting, even if only at the "Good Day, Good Evening, How are you, Thank you" level in their language is truly an icebreaker and respect- and friendship-building effort that promotes the USA, not to mention yourself, in a wonderful way.
You're a great ambassador for America!
Swedish fish are most likely made with lingon berries . So you can find them sorta everywhere
Mosquitos are Mozzies, I hope that helps with your "good luck" rhyme 😃
I thought marin country was the birth place of mountain biking
You are authentically being you and doing what you love while being kind to others. What is the net result of that? The best bikepacking videos on YouTube!
The exits from the German motorways are signposted AUSFAHRT, which always made me chuckle
Hello, I’m riding my bike in Uzbekistan right now ☀️🥵Your videos always give me a morale boost. You do capture the emotions and philosophy of bike touring ! I hope to cross paths one day…
Andreas rules! 👍👍👍💪
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
❤
Thank you so much for your vlog. Nice see my contry where never been😂
I believe Ikea(in the USA) sells a lingonberry juice concentrate. We used to get a bottle every time we would go to Ikea when I was a kid.
Infart.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. I am a child.
Fun video! Here in Alaska, lingonberries are called low-bush cranberries. You may have eaten some on your visit here, though they ripen quite late.
I just want to watch the next video. You need to bikepack in NH where it gets cold.
I'm very much enjoying this series, Ryan! Great work!
Hello. Greetings from the Czech Republic.
I watch your videos as we ride too and they are very inspiring.
If you have ever cycled through the Czech Republic, North Moravia to be precise.
So we would like to welcome you to our home.
