Japanese Street Food at Fish Market and Public Market in Okinawa Japan. This is a street food tour of Makishi Public Market, also known as Okinawa’s kitchen. This Japanese market is full of colorful tropical fish, tropical fruits, and all sorts of delicious food you can only find in Okinawa. The island of course is surrounded by ocean which naturally lends itself to extremely fresh seafood and because of this it’s one of my favorite Japan home away from home destinations. It’s only about a 15 mins drive from Naha Airport and is located in the Kokusai Dori area. It’s easy to miss the entrance, so make sure to find the small alley, Ichiba HonDori, to find this somewhat hidden market. Started as a black market in the post-war era, its now run by the city since 1950. It has a brand new facade from a recent renovation, but you can still feel the history when talking to people inside of the market. One of my absolute favorites about this spot, is that food you purchase at the market on the 1st floor can be taken up to the 2nd floor restaurants to be freshly cooked called mochiage, which I’ll be gladly showing you today.

  2. Mikiya's Umibudou looks exquisite! But you can't show that price tag to a Filipina aunt or you'll be having a solid earful HAHAHA

Umibudou, or Lato in Filipino is quite common in the Philippines, particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. You could get them for only around 2-4 USD per kilo. Sure, you could eat it as is, but we prefer dipping it with usual Filipino sauce made with vinegar (coconut vinegar preferably), and chopped garlic, red onions, ginger, tomatoes, and chili.

  3. Paolo me encantan tus videos traducidos al español ya que el inglés se me dificulta pero es una lástima qué no puedo ver tus videos más recientes traducidos al español saludos desde México

  4. Paolo, thank you for bringing such nice experiences with all of us! You are quite an inspiration for us to come to visit Japan and also experience the places you go. I actually have saved them on the map and next year in May we will try to go there and try foods from most of your other videos. We love all the series you make, they are amazing content and very interesting for us to learn about the Japanese culture. Keep doing what you are doing 🙂

  5. All of that looks amazing! I really hope to visit one day. Thank you for another great video! Oh, and my bottle of your hot sauce came in and it is freaking awesome!!!

  6. Your hot sauce arrived last week. Wow! Really good. But dangerous. A drop is all you need. Apparently I got a little on my hand while capping the bottle, and a little later felt my eye burning…. But it wasn't too bad. I'll be more careful next time 🙂
