Definitely a compelling region for value! I need to visit again, but definitely enjoyed my first trip to this region. Terrases de Larzac, in particular, has some impressive wines that I have tasted. It is definitely important to be selective, as I have had some disappointments too.
This area is the nest of wine for table drink ( mean not good ! ) And export in huge volume
But it change and u can ( as always) find gems
See granges des peres before the hype
U have lafage as a big producer also for
But so much also other
But as its wine from hot to very hot weather
Its usually more power wine concentrated …
It s a style
Great video , love his analysis but still it shows his personality without overpowering the theme
I am a big fan of the Château Maris – Les Planels
Your enthusiasm and willingness to beyond the norm is just awesome. Thank you.

Good wine makes me giggle too 😂
I've yet to have a baron Philippe de Rothschild wine that I didn't absolutely love, so thanks for brining this one to my attention! Ordered 6 bottles!
Great to find Fabre in your selection, they have a great portofolio of interesting & organic wines.
Cheers 🍷
It was lovely to find Fabre family in the selection, they are doing some great stuff with a beautiful portfolio of wines. Cheers Matthew 🍷
La sorga ❤❤❤
Been there 3 weeks ago. Great wines. Red couliore and sweet banyuls!
I have that Ganymède Boutenac you show at 9:43. We visited the chateau a couple of years back. They have another flagship Corbieres which is called Altair. The 2015 vintages was rated very high by Guide Hachette.
Apart from muscat de Rivesaltes and Banyuls I don't really venture in this wine region. Or at least not deliberately. On the topic of affordable French wines, I've recently "discovered" Vouvray white, insane price/quality ratio. I've got bottles from 2005 to 2021 from dry to semi-sweet to sweet and every bottle was around EUR 15,-
From this part of France, Domaine de l'Hortus, domaine des Grandes Costes and Mas Champart are my favs.
Of all the wines from Languedoc-Roussillon the most has to be Cremant and Blanquette di Limoux, fantastic QPR and they often have quite a bit of complexity as well. We've had a few reds over the years and they were solid, but not super impressive.
I think when wine gets imported abroad it is usually done with the largest market segment or group of consumers in mind. As up until rather recently full bodied red wine was the thing here, that's what was previously available. It's probably changed by now, but I don't focus on one country or region, but look for quality from all wine regions.
As for whites had a Chardonnay or two from LR, but the Taiwan market isn't so into non-mainstream whites from the south of France. The wine that impressed us both the most was the Domaine Lafage Ambre Hors d'Age; it was incredible. I remember kicking myself that I didn't buy a few more bottles, as this type of wine is pretty impossible to find here now. Great video and tips about which wines and appellations to be on the lookout for. Cheers!
"You gotta like the smell of your own socks."
I'm in!
Ahhh…I've got a good one for you to visit…the Beira interior Area in Portugal…at the same level of Bordeux or even better …
Rhe Cremont de Loire or de Limoux are usually great value for money.a fraction of Champagne with good quality as well
