Eze-sur-Mer is on the main Nice- Monaco. That town is by the sea and not to be confused with Eze-le-Village, which is the historic village with the sweeping panoramic views of the Riviera. It is possible to get to the village from the train station via a long and steep footpath, the Chemin de la Mer, connects the seaside town with the village proper. An easier option is to take a bus from Nice, Monaco, or Villefranche.

Eze-Sur-Mer has only one beach (Plage d’Eze) but it’s a lovely one; great for swimming as the water comes very high up the beach and is in a calm bay. This is a good beach for swimming, dining and sailing, as well as having decent facilities, toilets and showers, there are two restaurants and plenty of watersports activities. The beach itself is public so showers are provided but you will find two private beach clubs with their own restaurants, sun loungers and parasols. Some nude people can be seen there as well.

The pebbles are small and fairly smooth, not as fine as some but definitely easier on the feet than those at Nice. The beach itself is a fairly thin ribbon of sunbathing space, the tide comes quite high up the shore making it easy to keep an eye on paddling children.

Access to the beach is tricky. There are three points of access: from the Eze train station; through a tunnel leading down from the Mairie next to the Post Office; via a walkway, the Chemin de l’Ortigué on the western edge of town. Access is easiest from the train station, via the underpass that goes beneath the tracks then along a small road until you reach some steps. You’ll find yourself at the quieter end of the beach furthest away from the restaurants. If you arrive by bus you can hop off at David or Cap Roux and access the beach from a tunnel near to the Post Office or via Chemin de l’Ortigué at the western end of town.

Parking is available at the train station (limited, free) or on avenue de la Liberté (€1.20/hour)

Bus No. 100 from Nice makes several stops along the avenue de la Liberté. From Eze village take bus No. 83 to the train station (Gare), David, or Cap Roux.
