We visit Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel. The castle was the mighty stronghold of the MacDougalls, built before 1240 on a huge rock above the Firth of Lorn. Captured by Robert the Bruce in 1308, the castle remained in royal hands until 1469.
Flora MacDonald was held at Dunstaffnage in 1746 before being sent to the Tower of London for aiding Bonnie Prince Charlie’s escape.

Marina turn – Sat Nag heard you say you were going to get a boat to tow in your last video! 😁 I’ve put a great still shot of you both on your Twitter page – should I delete it?
I always look forward to the history lessons with Bob and Jenny .and Poppy 🚐🐻
It’s always worth watching your history videos of castles, chapels and cathedrals. We never know quite what we will learn and as you said, it reminds us all of where our ancestors came from and how they lived. Lovely views of the marina and surrounding woodland. Nice day out 😃👍🏻💙 Trev n Sue
We live in the area. Not far from North Ledaig site.
Walkway on the bridge is recently constructed & opening soon. They are removing the pavement as the bridge is due a major upgrade of the carriageway. The cyclist dismount signs have only recently been put up & probably for the walkway.
The Captain of Dunstaffnage has to spend at least 1 night a year in the castle, which is said to be haunted.
If you’re back again there’s a nice wee cafe at the Ocean Explorer Centre.
We enjoy watching your videos. Safe travels.
Looks a very impressive place. In a stunning location
Definitely enjoy your history vlogs guys 👍👍👍
Sorry we are dipping in and out at the moment – life is hectic!

Another brilliant video, Thank You. 🎉🎉
Always find these flogs very interesting. Historical information on all castles is very useful. You both give very good tutorials.
I love all the historical information you share with us, and can't thank you enough for taking the time to vlog it all. Poppy really was in her element with all those steps wasn't she. Stunning views from the Wall Walk. Looking forward to the next video already ❤
I’m a castle fan Bob and Jenny, I feel right at home wondering around them.❤
I love watching Poppy exploring these places, she really enjoys it!!
Interesting stuff – good video again both. As a matter of interest Bob, with all the great journeys you've done since you've owned your Kon-Tiki, over the last 4.1/2 or so years, what sort of mileage have you clocked up now in it ? Are you planning to hold onto it a wee bit longer ? We have the same decision to make ………our Escape is a 2018 plate, which like you guys, we've had since new. We've used it a lot in that time, but probably not chalked up as many miles as you guys. Keep up the good work !
Hi Bob Jenny and not forgetting poppy.
I am struggling to find someone or somewhere to fix my thatcham alarm which won’t arm as it gives out 3 loud beeps every time I go to arm it.
Do you know anyone who could help.
We live on The Wirral.
Thanks for all of your very informative videos and keep up the great work you both do.
Thanks
Poppy does love a castle! I think she has her own EH membership card!
