  1. Do many asian Americans still care about more Asians in Hollywood? I’m asian American but I never watched a movie because there was an asian actor. It’s not that I’m not proud of being asian, but I don’t care if the little mermaid is white, black, or Asian. It has zero effect on me. I do like Asian athletes winning. Jeremy Lin, shohei ohtani, physical 100, Ben Henderson….

  2. Asian men need to represent themselves with violence, fear and stop being push overs. Sadly being respectful, nice and the “smart at math good guy” attitude is clearly not working. Asian American men need to be more like white and black men which means fuck everyone else and do you. And it hurts me to say but to go as far as to bully other races just like them.

  3. I go out of my way to avoid Hollywood when I can, especially since they historically despised Asians. I grew up on Bollywood and HK Cinema. In addition, I find Hollywood story telling subpar compared to Asia. Apart from Stranger Things, I don't watch/follow any US content. IMO the best way to send a message to Hollywood is to not spend money on their 💩

  4. Most real big Americans think south Asians Philipine Cambodia Indonesian and eastern Asians are very much same as eastern European western European S European Russian Poland Ukraine people are very same people, white but not exactly in fact very different. I see ton Asian Chinese Vietnamese Americans immigrants are sexy sensational smart smooth swag sexual strong but why Hollywood studios only have plain fugly Asian in movies it show they're racist in suttle ways or afraid Asians are moving up fast would surpass soon.

  5. Remember Raya? 80% East Asian casted. They were going to cast a Filipina Canadian as a lead role but went with the big name East Asians.

  6. When was the last time you saw a black person or even white American 🇺🇸 in an Asian movie? Are Asians that greedy and selfish tgat they feel they need to be first in everything? They want to be the top in education in America 🇺🇸, my son graduated with a 4.59 GPA and never got all A’s all through his school life but never acted like these people are doing. When will it be enough? When will people be satisfied with just living life and be happy? STOP 🛑 being so GREEDY

  7. If I was making a dollar a day.. now I make five.. someone will claim my pay increase was 500 percent.. wow…

  8. Won't help the box office if the story isn't culturally relevant to Asian Americans or Asians.
If we don't really integrate each other in real life, what's the point of faking it in movies?

  9. Majority of those roles went into self hating AF with a love interest that worship WM or XM. All while at the same time demeaning AM. Truthfully I rather the Asians get no media representation than AF worshipping WM.

  10. I'm South East Asian and most of the people I know from that region don't care if Asians are represented in Hollywood films or not. Many of them still watches shows and movies from Thailand or South Korea, they don't care about Hollywood stuff. Personally, I watch movies for entertainment, whether is from Hollywood, Europe or Asia, I don't care if the characters on the screen looks like me or not. As long as the story is good, I'll watch that show or movie.

  11. Great stuff guys. Looking for more content like this.
Here is what I think about wasians. To me they cant really represent asians (It's like Steve Nash cant represent Africa, it's just not the same) and here is why:
    – Childhood: totally different experience than real asians growing up in the west. Starts with mom being asian and white dad (99% of wasian kids). So they probably didnt grow up around asians, they dont know all the"asian" festive and tradition behind.
    – Culture: Their moms chose to marry a white man because they hate their culture and own men and want to live that western lifestyle. Real asians still live in their communities, that's why we have China/Cambodian/Lao/Viet towns in the US and even some European cities.

Also I kinda feel most wasians are only proud to be asians now because all the hype around asian food on social media, kpop, etc.
Growing up in Germany whenever I talk to wasians, they think like Germans and it's totally different when I spend time with real asians: the way we eat, our sense of humor, the things we talk, experience/struggles with dating(asian)girls, family always comes first, etc…

  12. It's pretty crazy how Gleaming The Cube has the best depiction of Asian immigrants and Asian Americans in a Hollywood film. That movie came out over 30 years ago lol. Also, watch it if you haven't. Great movie!

  13. I know a lot of people like to think Latinos don't care about representation but we do. Especially brown latinos. Like I know Cameron Diaz is technically Latina, but she always did white roles, people like us could not really identify with her. That's why Wakanda Forever was so special to a lot of us because a different side of Latin America was shown. PLEASE I hope everyone watches Blue Beetle too, it is currently not doing well but I thought it was fun and emotional story with great representation.

  14. Hollywood hires the same Asians. Raya, based off of Southeast Asian folklore for example, had the same East Asians casted.

  15. I’m Asian American, I wish we could see more Asian Americans from the hood and the streets not just middle class or suburban Asians or Fobs. Show that not all Asians come from good family’s with money and a business. Let’s see some more down to earth realistic examples of Asians.

    Look at –

    Kid Trunks Florida
    $tupid Young California
    Spence Lee Jersey
    Bizzy and Vickz Georgia
    Buc Noi California
    Menace C California
    Ace B New Orleans
    China Mac NYC

  16. Jet Li getting a hug from Aaliyah in Romeo Must Die will always be a microcosm of Asian Men’s romantic life in North America. Go take up those passports bros. 😂

  17. Most moviegoers will struggle to even name a handful of Asian actors. Being part of the supporting cast is one thing, but how many Asian protagonists are getting their limelight in the industry? Sounds like the Pareto principle at play. A handful of Asians are getting the predominant share of the roles, hence why people can't namedrop beyond the Jackie Chans or Simus.

  18. Here my opinion from this topic: I'm understand that representation is important but however it's how to tell a good story (don't matter it's a tv series or in movies), but some people forgot that Brenda Song was in The Suite Ol f Zack & Cody and Vanessa Hudgens was in High School Musical back in the 2000s (even though Vanessa is half Filipina) so it's probably nothing new under the sun. But however there are some films that have full asian cast like: Boogie, Turning Red, Joy Ride, Blue Bayou, The Farewell, Harold & Kumar movies, etc. But I'm get where like certain people coming from though.

  19. From my experience representation is increasing but still whenever i bring up media related things woth asians in them, alot of people say they dont know, plus no one seems to talk about them. More needs to be done.

  20. It's unhealthy for non-Black minorities to look at Black celebrities as proxies for representation. They don't represent us. Acting quality and storyline are more important to me than skin color.
