Today I’m taking you on a journey to uncover the cuisine of Taiwan’s tribes. First off its the Ami’s in Eastern Taiwan. The largest Taiwanese tribe by number, the Ami’s cuisine consists of wild vegetables and seafood. Today we’re trying their famous bamboo hot pot cooked with rocks! After our time on the east coast we’re heading deep into Taiwan’s interior, the Central Mountain Range. Here we find the Tsou tribe. Living high up in Alishan Mountain the Tsou tribe have capitalized on Taiwan’s booming coffee industry. Today we meet with The Prince of Coffee and learn about his practices. Finally we have a traditional Tsou BBQ together. I hope you enjoyed today’s video if you did SUBSCRIBE and I’ll see you guys on the next episode of Chopstick Travel!

  3. This is, in my opinion, what travel is for. Diving in your non-comfort zone to get to know other food and culture. Unknown doesn't mean bad !! Thanks for letting us live this experience through you.

  4. What a wonderful episode, it's wonderful that the Native tribes of Taiwan can thrive while preserving the natural habitat of Ali Shan. And I want to try that Alishan coffee, where can we get it in the US??

  5. Wow! Such beautiful countryside. I went there once but was only in Taipei to visit my sister. I saw on a map there were many hot springs on the Island. I'm surprised you didn't show us some. I heard there was special one the first leader went too. I believe his name was Chaing Kai Shek. Sorry if this wrong. I see this is an older video from the Corona days, which is why all the mask wearing. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to go into the mountains while I was there. Much better than the city.

  6. Thanks for showing us the different sides of Taiwan. It's so interesting to learn their tribal people and their local exotic cuisines. In fairness I loved your dance moves, you did great interacting with the hospitable locals and blend well with their unique culture. ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

  10. This looks amazing, thanks a lot for sharing Luke. I love Taiwan and would like to visit the first place you went to (the Ami in Eastern Taiwan). What is the name of the village / town where you went fishing there ? Is there accommodation there and is it accessible even if I speak only very basic mandarin ?
