      We flew to London in Dec 2010 when Heathrow was shut down.When we arrived in London our caring Qantas staff told us your BAs problem now.Walking through the terminal people lying around everywhere, we spoke to BA and were given a hotel in Kensington.Thanks Qantas for your care and attention,we have never flown Qantas again and never will.

      There's plenty of Asian carriers that offer the same or better service, nicer crew uniforms (VietJet for example albeit a budget airline) at a cheaper price. And depending on the destination more suitable flight times. Qantas has a long way to go before I'd consider flying with them again.

      I thought you could fly from Australia to Nairobi Kenya direct, I guess you have to connect thru Dubai these days, I refuse to go there because they use slave labour. Perth to Johannesburg is a much shorter flight

      Perth to Johannesburg was a tad over 11 hours . Sydney to Johannesburg via the rim of Antarctica is not particularly faster than across the great Australian Bight and then Indian Ocean

      Crisis ? It's share prices have boomed and the only people who care are those who left Qantas years ago… personally I love the airline , the crew and the flight staff…. and the aircraft continue to be the safest in the skies .. maybe get off the bandwagon and let the past be the past and look forward to an amazing future…. #qantaarocks

      Please, please, please put your seat in the UPRIGHT position during mealtimes! Think about the person directly behind you and how uncomfortable it is to have someone’s head in your lap while you’re trying to eat. It also pushes the tray right into your stomach. Airlines should make the upright position mandatory at these times. Thank you! 🙏

      Thanks for giving a decent review of Y class. We’d all like to be up front but in reality most of us can’t afford it (or as retired AC crew we can’t hold it!) so it’s good to know what other airlines offer. Cheers

      The 787s I have flown of different airlines didn't have air vents which sucks (to me at least). It looks like that Qauntas 787 has air vets which is great.

      Thanks for the fair and honest review. My daughter and son in law work for Qantas and it has been hard to watch the brand's reputation get unfairly trashed on so many fronts. A question for you if I may Josh? We are travelling Sydney to Germany next Sept. What route/airline do you recommend for value and comfort please? We would prefer premium economy but interested in your thoughts.

      I flew with Qantas in economy from DFW to MEL (17h) and then last week from MEL to LAX (+13h). Both times on the 787. I also flew with them domestically within Australia. I honestly thought they were brilliant. The long haul flight was not as bad as I imagined it would be. I was truly impressed. We were really looked after by the cabin crew who were friendly and proactive. I don't know why, but I had expected a BA-like experience. Qantas was much much better than BA, by far. No comparison. I rather fly economy for 17h with Qantas than BA transatlantic for 7 or 8 hours any day. Bravo to Qantas! So glad your experience was similar to mine.

      I’ve done that flight return with qantas 7 times. In premium economy and business. All in the 747s. The timing of the flight to arrive in Johannesburg is by good. Minimal jet lag. Quality of the service varies dramatically.

      My worst flight was my last overseas flight pre-pandemic when we got delayed home 24 hours which cost me over $5k and then the eventual flight home was also delayed so we departed at midnight and to add insult to injury the business class seat did not recline at all. I was offers a bottle of champagne in compensation but couldn’t take it because I had already bought gin duty free so it would have exceeded my allowance. When I contacted qantas they offered me 7,500 qantas frequent flyer points. So apparently they think the food and alcohol is worth about 35,000 points and the seat not so much.

      During the pandemic I lost six flights.

      I was platinum status all paid for by myself. Nothing paid for by work. I will never fly Qantas again. The way they treated those off us flying domestically during the pandemic was appalling.

      I will miss the first class lounge at Sydney however. Staff there were always phenomenal.

      Qantas is just an Australian-based airline. But it is really only just an international public company. It is not Australias national carrier any more, after our government were stupid enough to sell it to private enterprise.

      We can thank "Miss" Alana Joyce, worst CEO in QF history, for the sub-standard service. And to think that this self-centred queen is one of the highest paid CEO's in Australia makes me ill.

      It looked quite a good flight. The trouble with having a bad reputation is that it takes a lot of time to get a good reputation back. Personally, I am very angry with Qantas to the point where I won't fly with them. I may come back but they need to do something consistently and substantially better for me to return.
