Kutaisi is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Georgia, located in the western part of the country, on the banks of the Rioni River. Kutaisi is known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and natural attractions. In this video, we will explore some of the hidden gems of Kutaisi, such as abandoned buildings, Soviet relics, and cable cars.

We will start our journey from the Bagrati Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 11th century. The cathedral was partially destroyed by the Ottomans in the 17th century, and later by an earthquake in the 19th century. It was recently restored to its original glory, and offers a stunning view of the city and the surrounding mountains.

Next, we will visit the Gelati Monastery, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that was founded by King David IV in the 12th century. The monastery is famous for its frescoes, mosaics, and manuscripts, and was once a center of learning and culture in Georgia. The monastery also houses the tomb of King David IV, who is considered to be one of the greatest rulers of Georgia.

After that, we will head to the Sataplia Nature Reserve, a protected area that covers 354 hectares of forest, caves, and dinosaur footprints. The reserve is home to various species of plants and animals, such as bears, wolves, foxes, and bats. The main attraction of the reserve is the Sataplia Cave, which has a length of 900 meters and contains stalactites, stalagmites, and underground rivers. The cave also has a glass walkway that allows visitors to see the dinosaur footprints from above.

Next, we will explore some of the abandoned buildings and Soviet relics that can be found in Kutaisi. One of them is the former House of Culture, a massive concrete structure that was built in 1979 as a cultural center for workers. The building has been abandoned since the collapse of the Soviet Union and is now covered with graffiti and vegetation. Another one is the former Cable Car Station, which was once part of a network of cable cars that connected different parts of the city. The station is now deserted and decaying, but still offers a glimpse into the past.

Finally, we will end our tour with a ride on one of the remaining cable cars that still operate in Kutaisi. The cable car runs from the city center to a hilltop park called Gora Park. The ride takes about 10 minutes and costs only 1 lari (about 0.3 USD). The cable car offers a panoramic view of Kutaisi and its surroundings and is a great way to enjoy the sunset.
