At least you had an extra stay in Quebec City.
Thanks for the report. I haven't been in a hurricane or sailed close to one, though I've been on ships that have been affected by bad weather.
We r going on Summit October 2nd same cruise I hope we are able to go to all ports.
Good news as I have friends on that same ship wiyh you. 😊
So happy you are staying safe. Bummer about Prince Edward Island, that's a place we hope to visit someday also but 3 days in Quebec city sounds lovely. Our cruise, just a couple weeks ago had a change in itinerary to avoid a hurricane too! Thanks for the update and glad you're embracing the change that's keeping you all safe😊
When I did the similar cruise for fall colors from Montreal to New York we lost a port due to a storm and had very rough seas.
Currently on Jewel, it was a little rocky yesterday, difficult to walk around much but today it’s beautiful out, little bouncy here and there but overall it hasn’t been bad at all…steaming full speed ahead to Nuuk and even got our time there extended until 10pm…looking forward to crossing off Greenland from the bucket list
Got off that same cruise a week ago. Love to know what you thought of the ship. It’s my least fav celebrity ship- tons of complaints about food but the buffet was great
Hey guys. It boils down to the safest route first. Experienced changes in itineraries. Either a different port and they refunded the original port fees and didn’t charge us for the alternat in addition to They’ve given 2 free drinks. Things happen. Just go with the flow.
So sorry to hear that your sailing has been altered. Quebec City is wonderful though! Julie and I did the previous sailing to yours on Summit which was just perfect…. Last year we sailed with you guys from Reykjavik to Boston, unfortunately we both came down with covid and were quarantined for the entire second leg of that B2B. So, we tried again!!! Good luck and good health.
I had to do this itinerary four times before I got to PEI because of weather! Looks like I will only get there every third or fourth Canadian cruise! I agree with Celebrity's decision; we have had lovely weather so far. The cruise lines are always keeping our safety first!
We just disembarked from the Norwegian Escape. We missed 2 ports and came back to sit in the Hudson since Thursday morning. But its ok because we were safe
Back in 2001 my husband motored our 50 foot sailboat through a hurricane on his way back to the US from Puerto Rico. He said it was the scariest experience of his life, but certainly now we have no fear of big waves and motion on cruise ships!
Guys, check out the cruise ship Hamburg. It seems to have broken down leaving Quebec City
I was wondering about this! I follow you on IG and noticed updates had become… sparse. Glad the crew is keeping everyone safe and content! 😊👍
I live in the upper lower peninsula of Michigan, and the fall foliage won't be in full bloom until the end of October
Yes, and I found when the weather gets choppy and rough on a ship, I don't go to the dining room. I just go to my cabin and stay on the bed the rest of the night until the weather clears lot safer that way
I've been to Iceland before, but never to Greenland, because it was too foggy to dock.
Well, we are not in the Northeast, but our entire itinerary was changed last week. Due to Hurricane Lee, our itinerary was changed from Eastern to western Caribbean. This would have been fine, but we missed a port we booked especially since we had never been to Tortola. To make it worse, we are back to back on RCL Adventure of the Seas. So we are here doing the same itinerary as we did last week. I am just happy that our captain made the choice to keep us safe. Better to repeat ports than be in danger.
Please do a video about this cruise.
I’m taking almost the exact same cruise in October.
What places you liked or didn’t and where you ate.
Ah you got into Quebec City just before we did Friday . ( We were on Zuiderdam ) Disembarked yesterday after spending the night at QC. Train to Montreal. I believe HA wasn’t leaving as planned yesterday. We were out of Boston as well- made all of the ports thankfully. Prince Edward Island was okay but we really loved Sydney NS. Hope you made it to the falls in Quebec City 😍
In 1981 😂, had to mis Dominican Republic port day after storm, unsafe to sail. You could literally see tree trunks coming out of the harbor.
I just got off the Adventure of the Seas Saturday. We were supposed to go to St. Croix and Tortula but that was scrapped and we had to go to Roatan and Cozumel because of Lee
Good evening from the Canadian Maritimes. My property and town had some weather but we came out unscathed. Glad you are OK. Too bad you are missing Prince Edward Island but Quebec City is a great place and was not in the path of Lee.
We were on Carnival ‘s Legend and it was a 14 dat cruise to Greenland, definitely our bucket list cruise. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make either of our two ports in Greenland . It was a massive disappointment for all of us, because we only booked the cruise to go to Greenland and we never got there.
Glad you are safe. Enjoy the rest of the cruise!!
Im leaving Thursday on Carnival Freedom for Transatlantic to Barcelona. Hopefully no major storms but forecast looks like some stormy weather.
Hurricane Dorian turned our 8 day cruise into a 12 day. They also changed our itinerary.
Quebec City is beautiful, the cleanest City I have ever been in. Hope you all have good walking shoes. Lots of levels, stairs stairs stairs…… Enjoy!!
Voyager of the Seas September 2004 — booked as a Western Caribbean/Freeport cruise from Cape Liberty. Prior to departure Hurricane Frances took out Freeport and then Hurricane Ivan ran our itinerary through Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman. We boarded having no idea where we were going and they did not announce until day 2 that we would go to Labadee as scheduled but then head east to San Juan, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. And then the storm that became Hurricane Jeanne kicked up and two hours of port time were cut from San Juan. We arrived in St. Maarten and it was windy and wet all day. St. Thomas was actually flooded when we were there and due to fear of landslides the shop owners started closing up by 2 PM so we had to return to the ship early. Our last day at sea returning to Cape Liberty the ship was fighting with the remnants of Hurricane Ivan that decided to circle back south after it emerged in the Atlantic, so the seas were rough and we were slowed so much that we did not dock in Cape Liberty until after 10 AM.
In September 2022 on Enchantment of the Seas leaving Baltimore, Hurricane Ian caused the Coast Guard to close the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay so we had to overnight before we were given permission to proceed the following morning. We arrived in Bermuda 16 hours late.
Enjoy your extra time.
I have never been confined to my room, yet, due to rough seas. Just wasn't allowed outdoors.
We are currently in the Caribbean onboard Harmony, can’t ask for better weather, it is just beautiful!
It’s good that you got to spend 2 days in Quebec with good weather. That’s not a bad itinerary change. My husband and I have been on a couple of Fall East Coast cruises that included New England and Canada. Our favorite ports on those cruises were Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine and Halifax, Nova Scotia. We love Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Portland Head Lighthouse in Portland and Peggy’s Cove in Halifax. Stay safe!
I'm on the ncl bliss to alaska currently experiencing 30 to 40 foot wave height and wind speeds hit over 54 knots and averaging 35 knots for past 30 hours straight. Can't wait to be in port in a few hours!
Enjoy Portland tomorrow- enjoy the waterfront- The Old Port is great!!!! Porthole Restaurant for lobster!!!!
If you are still in Quebec City,, you should do a day trip to Tadoussac…just north of Quebec City on north coast of St Lawrence…whale watching is amazing there!
Our transatlantic Regent cruise was re-routed away from Nassau due to the hurricane and ended up safe harboring in NYC harbor for two days. And one of our ports was Casablanca, and we missed the earthquake by 2 days.
I had a double whammy one time, when I went to Alaska, the ship hit the dock in Seattle from the previous cruise, which caused a one day delay on embarkation and caused us to miss Juno. Then, when we got to Victoria, it was too windy to dock so we had to stay anchored and missed Victoria too. It could’ve been worse but was still awesome.
Oh, yes I have, we been in front of a storm, beside a storm and in the eye of a storm all while cruising. One time everyone had to stay in their cabins, one time no one could go outside on deck. It was rough, scarry and fun at the same time.
