Nice is the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera, lying on the pebble shores of the Bay of Angels. The Matisse Museum houses one of the largest collections of paintings by the master, who lived in Nice for about 40 years. The Marc Chagall Museum displays works by the famous artist on biblical themes.
