Welcome to a unique video! Surfshark flew me all the way to Lithuania in Airbaltic’s business class. I had quite the trip on their A220 – twice! See our fire-related delay at Gatwick and a very rushed connection experience in Riga to get me to Vilnius!

There, I met with their CEO, Vytautas, who is a keen private pilot. We had a brilliant day flying from Paluknys (near Vilnius) out to Aleksotas Airfield in Kaunas – we covered the flight with five camera angles and some cockpit audio. I really hope you enjoy this unusual video! Thank you to Surfshark for facilitating the video and covering my travel expenses on this occasion, as well as to Vytautas for reintroducing me to general aviation. What a day for flying!

  2. I’ve been watching your videos for several years, Paul and your flight in the Cessna is the first one I can remember your not eating or drinking while airborne.

  3. The airplane ✈️ was pretty. Good thing you made it, out there on time 😅. It was nice of you to share your private pilot and air tour as well.😊 👍 Thanks, Paul.🇺🇸

  4. Was hoping this would be out before our trip last week! 😂 we had the back row in economy… A couple of great flights except for the shocking leg room (😡). The flight back to LGW was delayed, so I’m glad we ordered the food which – even in economy – was rather pleasant!

  5. Excellent video Paul! I always love seeing you fly on new airlines and I especially love seeing unique liveries on airplanes and not just the standard. Air Baltic looks like an amazing airline and sodas that A220-300 and you got to fly business class! 🎉 ✈️ I always love a special livery especially for this little avgeek! 🇱🇹 that livery is called “Lithuanian Heritage” and it looks absolutely fabulous! 😊 Also you got to fly in a Cessna 172 from 1973! I love the Cessna 172 Skyhawk as it’s the type of plane that I fly in my private pilot training (N572RJ if you want to look it up for flight tracking). I am almost fully certified here in the United States now. 🇺🇸 ✈️ 👨‍✈️ if you ever come back to the United States and pass through Detroit (DTW) or have a long layover in this area. Give me a heads up far in advance and we can try to fly in my Cessna together that would be great!Email me if you ever are passing through my email is Coolplaner14@gmail.com Maybe we can even convince Noel Philips to come up for that trip! Also plz check me out @Caleb’s Aviation here on YT
Anyways, great video as always and cheers 🥂 mate! Also at 5:20 didn’t you last use that music for your Delta One review in their A330-900neo from SLC-CDG (which you didn’t particularly care for if I remember correctly! 😆) I only remember because I always love jazzy music in videos!

Also you should definitely come to Oshkosh Wisconsin this coming year for OSH 24 I think you’d really enjoy that as a plane geek and there will be lots of small planes there! 😊

  6. WOW! What an incredible video. Commercial flying with all it's pitfalls of delays and missing connections to the freedom of private flight. What a beautiful country with all its heritage kept pristine…Awesome!👍

  7. My weirdest airline/airport delay that made me miss a connection: American from JFK to LAX, with a connect to Alaska Airlines up the coast to Seattle. We pushed back on time. And then sat for 30 minutes because the port engine wasn’t plugged in to the power system (or something). Fine, we taxi and take off. Then we found out half the aircraft had no audio connection, this was back in the day before everyone had mp3 players, let alone smart phones or tablets. Ugh. Finally we land and taxi to a gate. And sit. 5 minutes later the flight attendant comes on, “There’s outside the plane, we can’t open the door!” I’m on the other side from the door, I see 1 bee. They pushed us back and towed us around to an open gate on the other side of the terminal. That took 30 minutes. I now have 15 minutes to change terminals in LAX… there’s busses that do this, but no direct bus, I have to go to the remote terminal for commuter planes and wait for a bus that goes to the terminal for Alaska… that took 30 minutes! My connecting flight is long gone. I thankfully found a customer service desk and they were able to put me on a flight 3 hours later (there was another flight in between, but it was full). I don’t get into my hotel until very late, but my story made the night desk agent feel bad enough for me to secretly upgrade my room to a two room suite! Thankfully my flight home was direct via Delta (the timing of their flight the other way got in “late”, that’s why I flew to LAX and connected, thinking I would get in early to have some dinner, lol.)

Ironically I did end up taking the Delta flight to Seattle a few years later, and we wound up being two hours late because of a sick pilot whose replacement needed to get out to JFK in rush hour traffic. (They made up about 90 minutes of the long delay in the air, but we were still 2 hours late.) Thankfully I got dinner to eat on board that time.

  8. I flew to Estonia earlier this year via Amsterdam. The Amsterdam to Tallinn leg (and back) was with airbaltic on their A220, safe to say one of the best short haul experiences ever. Getting off the A220 onto KLMs E175 back to Manchester was a big shock. Those A220s are a short haul game changer, quiet and comfortable.

  9. I never realized that there was so much variation in the Cessna 172. My father had one from the '60s. There was no rear window and the second row was a bench seat. The front seats were on long rails that slid back to the doors that aligned with the bench seat. You got in and pulled yourself up into the nose. Easy plane to fly.

  10. Awesome stuff, Paul. The livery on that first Air Baltic flight was spot on! I assume that the business class got you into the 1 lounge?

Also loved the segment with the CEO from surfshark – looked amazing flying there and Lithuania looks fabulous

  11. Best, most convincing promo for Surfshark I have seen. Having Mr Handsome up front talking about a simple /straight forward package with a tonne of geeky technical stuff out back is the message all such service providers need to sell.

Oh, and the flying bit in the evening light in a classic Cessna was totally cool

  12. Why is business class in Europe often just economy seats with no middle seat? Its not proper business class! Unlike the 2 + 2 business class seating as found on Virgin Australia or Qantas.

  13. Great video. The flights and food looked good. Terrific shots from the Cessna. I'm surprised the flight was held – I thought they usually want to take off on time. I've flown Air Baltic and it was generally fine. Riga, Vilnius, Kaunas and Trakai Castle are all great places to visit.

  14. The toilets on those are awesome. Massive and have a window. And the side with only 2 seats per row is another big bonus

  15. amazing video Paul! that Cessna flight is the stuff of dreams for us aviation geeks for sure 😄
if I could make one comment, I would have loved to see fixed subtitles for your conversations on the plane with Vytautas, the auto captions didn’t pick up everything you two were saying! but what I did manage to hear was fascinating 😊

  16. I used to fly as a non revenue passenger a while ago and It was very common for you to be tha last one boarding the plane. Not the best experience at all!, but you were still very thankful to be boarding that plane after all!
