Bulgaria – contrasts of a beautiful country

Bulgaria is a very beautiful country. In this video we visited the Shumen Memorial which in 1981 celebrated 1300 years since the founding of the Bulgarian State. This memorial was built by the communist regime that ruled Bulgaria at the time but unlike the pure communist memorials that exist elsewhere in Eastern Europe, this one remains well looked after and seemingly well liked by the people. That’s because it celebrates Bulgaria, not the political party that happened to be in charge at the time.
We went on to visit the wonderful rocks and to stay overnight in a stunning location next to a reservoir.
