I spent 3 months in Bali this. year and by the end of it I really did not want to go back.

I’m making this video for other people who are thinking about going but are considering the pros and cons.

I would recommend it for a few weeks or a month but not for long term.

Let me know what you think about Bali!

  1. I agree with you that in Bali it is difficult to establish meaningful connections with the other tourists and digital nomads and that you have the feeling that you are "replaceable". When I was there recently, I also felt that locals don't really benefit from the surge in tourism, as many have to work long hours and take home little money (as you well pointed out in your video). Best wishes to you in Vietnam.

  2. Digital Nomads is not a monolithic group. Bali is not the place for you. Seems like the best place for you would be somewhere more secluded, less hectic, and yet can allow you the immersion experience you are looking for.

As for feeling empathetic towards the service-industry people, that apply to every place where the main source of income is tourism around the world. It is not a unique phenomenon in Bali.

Anyhow, hope you eventually find a place you are looking for…

  3. Its often in Asia that there are Areas who are too expensive, where you can have the same quality in another area. I also see it in the philippines.. i can go for 10K peso while i go to another area where i have the same for around 4K peso.. its mostly about tourist places who get mor expensive an overcrowded.
My recommendation is here (only my experience) go local outside tourist place. its mor nice and personal. And after all.. DONT BELIEVE IN INFLUENCERS!! ITS PRODUCED BEAUTY! I often see it when i go there in person. Its mostly not that easy to get the photo or vid shot you see before ๐Ÿ˜‰ stay safe all!

  4. Bali, though being very beautiful, is totally overcrowded with meaningless tourists, at least on the South-Eastern part. If you wand to discover the real Bali, you have to go on the other parts of the island, but then it's not the best place for Digital Nomad.
I don't really know about Vietnam, but I'd say places like Chiang Mai in Thailand or Penang in Malaysia would be much more interesting for what you are looking for.

  5. Sweety you speak ultra fast. But on the bright side your very cute. โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ™„ may be I need a partner like you so I don't understand most of the stuff but just enjoy the beauty ๐Ÿ™„

  6. When you are younger it is interesting to explore the world, if you have a financial possiability to do that. When you get older then choose some place where you can live and work, take a cat or dog, find normal person, make family, make compromise with world around you

  7. hmm , it's your fault trying to learn motorbike on the street, but you blame it to bali. In which country that you can learn motorbike at the public street. Regarding the rent cost, not sure your price is per night, if it is per night than to expensive, because you can live in the hotel with 30 USD

  8. I appreciate your honest assessment and feedback on your travels. Keep up the great work. If you happen to come to the Philippines do get in touch! Cheers!

  9. I had a similar experience, I was not impressed with bali or ubud, nice but super busy. I enjoyed scuba diving on Nusa Lembongan and exploring by scooter as there was fewer people and less pollution on the beach,, the island is rustic and your going to get your feet wet kinda trip, my kinda place. keep up the great work.

  10. come to my second country Malaysia and their beaches are stunning like kapas island, Redang island and more calm soothing also you must wanna try the food at Kuala Lumpur ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  11. Bali is done. I pay 275 for studio apt in Bangkok which includes a. c. and everything. Young Americans and Canadians are willing to pay high prices for everything? Are you really that rich. Digital nomads? I had to work for a living. Before computers their was life and the world was cheap and adventurous. You could not pay me enough money to now go to Phukhet. When I first went there it was a 'paradise

  12. Angel Wen, you look like Taiwanese superstar, Zhang Hui Mei.

There are a few digital nomad and Youtube vlogger that you contact as to which country to be for digital nomad base:

Jetlag Warriors – Steve (Canadian) & Ivana (Indonesian)

Corporate Breakout Couple – John (Singaporean) & Fran (Malaysian)

Andrew Taylor – Florida, American (based in KL & Penang)

Ken Abroad – German (based in Bangkok, Thailand)

  13. Fly to HK, get yourself a visa for China, then take high speed train from HK to Beijing. Weather is nice second half of October in Beijing.

  14. Would you like to pay a visit to ฤฐstanbul Turkey too for around two weeks as a tourist and make a video, as well? You could make a small research at youtube before to decide to come? Many thanks

  15. First she said Canada is bad because itโ€™s difficult to meet people. But then Bali is also bad because there are too many people. Complained that Balinese culture is diluted but never went out of Cangu and heavy tourist areas and visit smaller towns and experience where locals actually live. Later we might hear in a video about reasons why Thailand is bad. Some people just can never be happy with what they have, and will always find reasons to complain. And these complaints are not even good ones.

  16. Cannot fathom why would you pay this kind of money for gyms, use what is freely available if you really care about your health- use STAIRS and not the COMFI ELEVATOR , problem solved , this is way too expensive to pay gyms that sort of money to maintain your physical fit. WALK where ever possible and use stairs, you will save all that money for the same benefit !

  17. All you do is complain (Vancouver is expensive, gee why didn't you get an education for higher paying job then?), (Bali is this and that). Honestly you gotta just head back to your motherland of vietnam and learn to appreciate things.

  18. Hi, I think you are describing more Canggu.

Many foreigners live for example in Sanur and they don't spend much money for their daily needs and also for a pretty well built villa (3BR and a pool). But anyway I hope, you find your place where you can have your inner peace and achieve your goal.

  19. if you love to have a party life canggu is the place, if you love to have a cultural experience and life ubud is your place, if you love to have a calm life tabanan, bangli, or sanur may be your place, if you want some affordable life karangasem may be your place, if you want to interact with more local just come to the main city, it is hard to fulfil everyone expectation if the wheel run to fast, that is why the trafic is crazy because we didnt ecpect and the infrastructure is not ready, but thank you for coming to bali angel, love from bali
