Carlo seems like a nice bloke. I'm a New South Welshman but lived and worked in Melbourne for many years (big upside being able to go to the footy every weekend!) and I can't argue with him on the weather, I remember waking up so sun and 35C a couple of hours later, to it being cold and raining a few hours after that… I carried a lot of layers around lol.
Carlo's partner sounds similar in attitude to my wife. After many visits to Australia to see me I asked if she'd ever want to live there. Her response was "I'm not sure I want to live in any country where the people seem to care so much about the things that don't really matter in life". I found it hard to disagree. So here we are.
Gio (and Philippines guys), I require fast 100-200 mbit internet that is stable without brownouts. Will my only options be Manila and Cebu? I just got to the Philippines and will stay 1-2 years

Nice interview Gio,, great to hear an Aussie accent 😂.. as an Aussie expat living in Cebu for 18 months I relate to what he is saying, research, adjustments to lifestyle , being comfortable and not being around a lot of foreigners that sometimes can be really negative towards the Philippines ..🍻
I'm from Aussie I hope Carlos has done his research into the Australian gov. Requirements for retirement over seas because they want you to move back to Aussie before 67. Apply and get pension then live in Australia for another 2years or else they just stop your pension

I was wondering what islands to stay away from in the philippines that have terrorists on them. I heard you talking about negros. But I also heard a bunch of communists are on that island. If true what part of that island are they on?

As an Australian living in Sydney, I'll have to correct this guy.
HEALTH CARE IS NOT FREE.
We have some of the highest taxes in the world. So we pay for the so called free proportion.
I earn twice the average wage, & the my income tax bracket is 45% plus the Medicare levy of 4%. Effectively 49% income tax. Private health care is basically compulsory if you earn over, $90,000 a year, or you will be slugged with a Medicare surcharge tax. Add to this the Australia tax anytime you spend money. Buy a dilapidated dog box 20 kilometres from the CBD of Sydney & your paying $2,000,000 before tax. I go to see my GP & even though the GP is fully paid for by Medicare, I still have to pay an exstra $40 on top, as the doctors are greedy. Go see a specialist & the fee is $500 for a 15 minute consultation & you only get $160 back on Medicare. Add to this, much of the Australian population is not eligible for government sponsored social security in old age because the aged pension is means tested for income & assets test. Basically if your net worth is over AUD$800,000 you get absolutely Zero welfare from the government in old age. To be totally honest, Australian's won't like to hear this, however Australian is now officially a shit whole.
Age pension age is 67, you can retire at 60 in Australia and access your superannuation.

Hi Gio who do you use for the throw away ticket and it it accepted without a problem? They will ask me at Melbourne airport if I have an onward ticket. I've never been asked for it in Manila. Ive always booked a real onward ticket and then thrown it out.
I continue not to get it. My move to PI is based on immersion in the "PI experinece", not just bloody moving from the west to be immersed in the west. There are so many places to consider that have not been totally bastardised by western influence
