  1. At 9 min 40 sec, the police motorcyclist asks where the ambulance should go, and the ambulance driver tells him "Les urgences, on va aux urgences" which means "ER, we need to go at the ER entrance".

  2. It wasn't a high five, but the policemen asked where the emergency station for ambulances was. I've been in the military police in France and I did some escorts like those. πŸ™‚

  3. Just for info, it is a normal traffic, even relatively low compared to usual traffic in Paris or Brussels.
Brussels to Paris takes usually 5 hours, 1Β½h to do the 5 km to leave Brussels, 2h for the 230km of highway and 1Β½h to do the last 2 km in Paris.

There are a few hospitals in France and Belgium that are "last resort" ones, when a patient is sent to Necker in France or Erasme in Belgium, it's because there is no other option.

  4. this is what they said, roughly @ 9:30
policman : "Hello, to which part of the hospital ?" (literally translation would be "hello, which service ?")
ambulance driver : "the ER, I'm gonna search for it" (the second part is litterally "I'm gonna look", but I think belgians use that to mean "I'm gonna search")
policeman : "It's at the end"
ambulance driver : "It's for the ER or something else ?"
policeman : "yes go go go, follow us !" (literally "yes, go go, come")
(after the police bikes have already started) ambulance driver (maybe to himself or accompanying staff ?) : "we're coming in through the ER anyways" (in the meaning "we're supposed to come in through the ER anyways")

  5. The beginning of the video shows the exit from the highway 1 towards the north east of Paris. One of the worst exits as there are accidents daily. Police escorts are common for ambulances for emergencies. There could be organs in that ambulance . They are going to the ER so it is an emergency. If not mistaken that hospital is Necker so you can see the route on google map. These police bikers are specially trained

  6. The shacky cam is due to paved streets in Paris. It's fun to drive on those, especialy when you think carriage used the same road. Nothing to apologize for, man. Thanks for the video.

  7. P.T. Cruisers were available in Europe and being European size sold in small numbers.
The only American cars you see in any numbers at all are Mustangs and Jeeps. I did use a Cadillac Esplanade for two years but everyone's reaction was to laugh at its ridiculous proportions.

  8. At the end they were asking for the location of the emergency entrance, and cars with red lights on their roof are taxis, it means they have already someone on board if i'm right.
You can say SAMU in one word if you want, we say that in France, it means "service d'aide mΓ©dicale urgente" (urgent medical aid service).

  9. The first time you get in the way, they point at you. The second time they will bang on your car with their fist. No-one has ever survived the third time. The motorcyclists are part of a special Paris Police squad.

  10. Therre is a story of a german airforce pilot, who flew his jet in very bad weather to get an organ for replacement to a child in need. He was the only chance for the child and didnot hesitate to safe the littke kid.

  11. People are – rightfully – impressed by these European escorts, and I think it's supercool when they cooperate across borders.
But now I'm wondering how you get ambulances and fire engines through e.g. New York and Chicago in rush hours? Or across state lines, asuming there are several places where the nearest help is in an other state?

  12. French Cops πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘β€

  13. Generally you will see a so called β€œRettungsgasse” (rescue lane) space being automatically created when there are motorway traffic jams in Germany. Thus drivers will tend to move to the left/right of the lanes to ensure a space is left free for any potential emergency vehicle needs.

  14. Cars with red lights on top were taxis. At the end of the video, the driver and the cops were talking to each other saying something like : "Where are you going? – We're going sthraight to ER with the van"

  15. Do you know that in some countries (I don't know for Belgium or France, but that's the case in Poland for example) emergency medical services do also have paramedics who ride motorbikes, or even plain bicycles? In a crowded city (and especially in pedestrian-only zones), they can quicker get to a person who needs help and begin treating them, before an ambulance can arrive to take over.

  16. Maybe the info already given, but red light car are just cab/taxi, and the exchange between ambulance and police in the end is to precise wich service of the hospital they have to reach. To be completely precise, we all ride like that in France, Policemen just rode slowly here because it was a belgian ambulance ;-)…

  17. Cars with red light = taxi, red if busy, green if available, off if not in service.

And there are four other colors to indicate the current price as well.

  18. Those bumpy roads are good old Parisian paved roads πŸ˜€ They weren't designed for speeding cars, but they are still maintained.

9:33 The cop asked the paramedics what hospital service they are looking for. The driver replies "the emergencies" and the cop tells them to continue to the end of that path before saying "come with me".

  19. Conversation between police motorcyclist and ambulance = The policeman asks the ambulance which medical service they are expected to attend because the hospital is large and has lots of entrances. the paramedic replies that they are going to the emergency room directly.

  20. One of my kids had to be transported to Necker when she was 11 months old. Very similar situation in heavy traffic with police escort though replace the ambulance with a fire brigade truck.
I'm super grateful that so many people helped and did their best to save my little girl. And yes, she's fine. She's now 10 , and she cannot wait to enroll next year as a jeune sapeur pompier (youth fire brigade – minimum enrollment age is 11) to help others.

  21. I think the cars with red lights were just taxis, but not sure, the video was not good at this moment… And at the end, the ambulance driver asks for help to go to the emergency service.
