Our family’s about to find out what it’s like to take a 4-hour business class train from Penang, Malaysia to the nation’s capital and largest city, Kuala Lumpur. We arrived here by train a few days ago, but that was a shorter trip, from Ipoh, on a simpler rail, in coach seating. So we’re hoping to experience a bit more luxury as we wrap up our latest trip around Southeast Asia and start a 5-flight journey home to Denver to celebrate Halloween. Let’s get to it.

ABOUT US

We’re the Lockwoods. And we’re traveling the world to experience—up close and in person—all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think it’s a better way to learn and we’re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.

  1. Lol! The Behind The Scenes with Colt had us dying😭🙂😆At least he was thinking of watching ‘MomDuty’ after his livestream🤪🥰 Thanks buddy!

  2. Our trains are similar to Laos. They are semi hsr. Currently only indonesia has a 150km track for hsr train. I heard the disadvantage with hsr is nausea or headache. This is from comment from Europeans

  3. Salam.. note: ktm sila jadikan bilik air di dlm train berbau wangi ckit… malulah ckit dari dulu xpernah cuba nak berubah… kedekut sangat ke nak letak pewangi..

  4. I visit Malaysia 3-4 times a year with my two kids, wife. I think you would really enjoy legoland in Johor malaysia. But it’s on the Singapore border so you can visit it from Singapore or Johor. If you opt to stay in Johor (I would) there’s several pockets of airbnbs. By far the nicest area is puteri harbor. The airbnbs there are so nice and still so cheap and it’s only a 3 minute grab ride to legoland

  5. Why not just get a Grab in a few minutes and take that to the Penang ferry dock? I don't understand driving all the way south to the bridge and then back north to Butterworth. Also, the train is supposed to have wifi.

  6. Oh.. u alighted at KTM KL station. That was our old station. Though historical building but it require much restoration. If you come to KL again, please alight at KL Central Station. It is one stop away. More convenient that station.
