The country road
Traveling from Puta-o to Myitkyina in northern Myanmar (Burma)
Puta-o is a quaint town with a sparse population, located in the northernmost part of the country. The tiny town enjoys fame for its unspoiled natural beauty and serenity. Especially the snow-covered mountains in its close proximity make the town highly popular. Among these, Khakaborazi is the highest mountain in Southeast Asia.
Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State, is well known for a historic bloody battle that took place during World War II. The Ledo, aka Stilwell Road, ran through Myitkyina, so the city was strategically important for the Allied Forces.
Myitkyina and Puta-0 are connected by a narrow, meandering, and bumpy road.
