Taking a sleeper bus or not? This questions will be asked a lot if you plan your first trip to Southeast Asia. You hear a lot of horror stories about the sleeping buses in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos or Thailand. But I believe it is not so bad. Our experience was always good. The worst bus ride was in Indonesia though, as we been on the bus for 14 hours. Apart from that, a night bus can be rough and tough, that is for sure, but it is also an easy and cheap way to travel around. And it is not always more dangerous than during the day. So don’t worry about taking a sleeper bus/overnight bus in Southeast Asia, I would always take one again.
