Welcome to part 5 of our 1500 km Camino along the Via Podiensis — from Le Puy-en-Velay, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. In this episode we barely survive the heatwave, walk along a canal, attend two festivals, and visit the towns of Lauzerte, Moissac, and Auvillar.
We started the Via Podiensis (Le Puy Camino or Chemin du Puy) on August 7, 2023, spending 28 days walking in France, arriving at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on September 3rd. From there, we continued on the Camino Frances, arriving in Santiago on September 29th.
This is our first time walking the Via Podiensis and our second time on the Camino Frances. We have hiked several other Camino routes in Spain including the Camino Primitivo (May 2023), Camino de Invierno (March 2023), the Camino del Norte (July 2019), and the Camino Frances (September 2017). We packed ultralight bags for all of our journeys.

I love your happy go lucky attitude, even through wrong turns and pretty unbearable heat. Makes it much more enjoyable to vicariously share the journey. I see Lainey has her right knee wrapped up. Injury or a little discomfort from many miles? What were the actual dates for this adventure?
Hi and thanks for all the vids. I was looking for another camino to do next year and I think I may have found it. We (my wife and I ) will hopefully be in the Podiensis next Sep/Oct and looking forward to it already and I hope it will be cooler then with less mozzies !
I think this yellow makers are for bikes. In Lauzerte we stay at Gite chez Serge and the man made for dinner, home made soup, vegetables, roast pork and homemade apple pie. It was our favourite stop and the one we mostly talk about.

That heat is too much!🥵 I love those sunflower field days! You are so right about getting out of the villages and away from the pavement.
