I’ve always wanted to visit Jena, and finally I did it. The city has a uber-prestigious past, being the city which gave birth to the Romanticism, and was home of bigger-than-life personalities like Goethe, Hegel, Karl Marx and the poor Friedrich Nietzsche.
Now it’s a very quiet town, but soon we’ll discover that until just few years ago it wasn’t that quiet.
Finally, the allure of sleeping in a hotel in the middle of nowhere, which resembles the Overlook Hotel of Shining, labelled “miserable” in the customers reviews, was so strong that I couldn’t help going and see with my eyes!
