You saw the sun illuminating exhaust from the upper stage of a Falcon 9. It can be extremely pretty when they launch just after the sun has set at ground level but is still above the horizon at high altitude. "falcon 9 exhaust" brings up some nice shots here on yt.

I totally agree as I am a pilot and I do have a fear of heights. It’s just different. Even flying a A Ronca champ with no door on it doesn’t bother me but walking up to the edge of a building even with the fence gives me the willies.
